Early Husker Lines - 2014

Didn't see this posted anywhere, but Vegas released some early lines for highly anticipated 2014 games

http://philsteele.com/Blogs/2014/JUNE14/DBJune17.html

Includes

Nebraska (-4) at Fresno

Miami at Nebraska (-3)

Nebraska (+8) at Michigan State

Nebraska (-2.5) at Northwestern

Nebraska (+7) at Wisconsin

Nebraska (+1) at Iowa

Considering that those will be 3 (MSU, Wisky, Iowa) tough road contests, those are some pretty generous odds when you factor in the 3 point home-team advantage.

We beat Fresno by 2 scores

Miami, I don't see a reason why we don't beat them by at least 7

MSU, we lose? I wouldn't bet that game, as we never know with them

Northwestern, always a close game, but no Kain Colter

Wisconsin, wouldn't bet that one lol.

Iowa, as of right now, their defense is in serious question. We win IMO.

So if you are the road team and you have a minus in front of the number that means you are favored and vice versa for home? Sorry I am dumb when it comes to lines, just trying to understand what I am looking at.

If you're minus, that means the odds are you're going to win by that much, doesn't matter if you're home or away. It it's plus then the odds are you're going to lose by that much, pretty simple.

Yeah, normally the number is always assigned to the home team, but I just assigned it to the Huskers for simplicity sake. My bad.

I tend to think that we are going to kick the $h!t out of Miami but will get blown out against Michigan State, but I am reeeeally terrible at making predictions based on betting lines or score predictions. So my comment is meaningless.

I like all the home game lines in our favor, but I don't know what to think of away games.

I'd take Nebraska and give the points to Iowa in a heart beat.

They beat us one time when we have tons of injuries and the team emotionally thinks their coach is going to be fired after the game and all of a sudden Iowa becomes a dominating team. Not buying it.

(disclaimer) unless we get absolutely decimated with injuries before the game. That can change everything.

These are the games that either make or break the season IMO.

I think the one that sets everything up is Fresno State.

Nobody is counting on Fresno having much or pushing us very hard. But it's a road game on the west coast. And that has me worried a bit. An upset loss to Fresno followed by a home loss to Miami could create such a toxic and negative environment that I fear we would get caught in a downward spiral that would be difficult to recover from.
