It was day-to-day with an evaluation scheduled for today. Sometimes with knees they have to allow swelling to go down.

Doesn't have to be a complete tear. A lot of times if it's only a partial tear it is much harder to repair, so they do surgery and go in to completely tear the rest of the ligament. Not saying this is what happened but I could see it as a possibility.

It hurts but I hear we've recruited well in the secondary. Better now than mid-season. His replacement gets to rep with the first team defense for a full fall camp.

Gotta feel bad for him. He came into the program a year late, did his time on special teams and right when he's about to get a taste of full time football this happens. Hopefully he recovers quickly.

The Lincoln Journal-Star reports that the injury is similar in some ways to the MCL injury that hampered Rex Burkhead throughout his senior season, but that surgery probably was the best long-term solution. LINK

Damn. Just when he was ready to get his moment to shine. Hope he recovers fully.

The only silver lining is that he can work on the mental game when he's out.

On an unrelated note, I hope they put some more experienced players in the mix, other then just cockrell, to replace him (as true freshman might not be able to pick up the mental aspects of Bo's defense that quickly)
