Even so, if Westy ran the wrong route, Tommy watched him run the wrong route and still threw it.

I don't think so. You make the read and then make the throw. Not exactly the time to sit back and watch what everybody's doing. That looked like the wrong read for Tommy. Westerkamp had the right idea with the flat. If Tommy had read it the same way, I think that could have been a touchdown. Or very close.

Awesome option run and keep by Tommy just now, by the way.

I don't think we're working to establish the run enough on 1st down right now. I wonder if that's by design and they're trying to work on the pass game early in the season, knowing what we have in the run game.

why not use what works, guess I just don't get that

We're averaging 8.2 yards per pass and 8.3 yards per rush. Looks like both are working pretty well.
