Everybody clap their hands

Once again, it's 3rd and long with 10:52 left in the 3rd quarter. As Armstrong motions AA in the backfield #43 at the LOS claps. All three down lineman don't move. The other two linebackers at the LOS don't move positions either. Pelini snaps the ball as TA is looking to the left. Pelini again hits TA in the belt buckle and he isn't prepared for the ball. #44 gets the sack and TA fumbles giving the ball to MSU inside their redzone.

Corn did end up going away from the clapping in the fourth quarter, and Mich St didn't have nearly as good of a jump then. In addition, Sparty seems to have troubles when the Huskers go up tempo.

Oh well, I'm done talking about Mich St now. We have one of those evil bye week things, although in this case the team needs it, and then it's on to Northwestern.

 
2nd and 10 with 7:07 left in the 3rd quarter. MSU has 4 down linemen. #43 claps about a half a second before TA does. Pelini hikes the ball just as TA is clapping. TA grabs the ball slightly to his right and gets set in the pocket. This one seems to be the least of the miss snaps as TA has a couple seconds to scan. Pressure gets to TA and he is sacked.

 
4th and 10 with :39 seconds left in the 3rd quarter. #43 again claps his hands and Pelini snaps the ball as TA is looking to his left. The ball hits him in the hands and he fumbles it, only to pounce back on top of it and the ball goes back to MSU. #15 for MSU clearly points toward #43 as if he is congratulating him on a good play as he goes of the viewing screen. TA is talking to Pelini after the play saying he hadn't clapped yet.

 
TA claps the one play he comes back for on the next drive and gets hurt on that play. Fyfe comes in and from the get go is dropping his arm to signal the snaps.

This would make me play the next 6 games like a man who's a$$ is on fire and heads catching. Just to beat them into the ground. It would be one game at a time. Only to have a systematic focus on getting to the B1G and getting revenge.

With the hand drop and quick tempo, Nebraska drives for a score almost all runs up the gut with AA except one pass on the edge to Westerkamp and a couple incompletion.

On the two point conversion, Pelini isn't looking a Fyfe when he drops his hand. Fyfe then claps to attempt to get the snap. Calhoun jumps across offsides, but gets back as Pelini doesn't snap the ball. Fyfe drops his hand again when Pelini is looking and hikes the ball to Fyfe. AA and Fyfe don't do the mesh well and fumble the ball.

 
TA comes back after the touchdown drive and continues to clap for the snap on the first snap. The second snap he drops his arm for the snap.

With 11:20 left in the 4th quater on 2nd and long, MSU two DT both shift before the snap with no clapping by any of the linebackers or other two DEs. The MLB behind the two thinks this is wrong and pushes the two back two where they were before. Two line shifts occurred with no clapping at all by the defense.

 
With 5:47 left in the 4th quarter, TA starts the drive with the clap but Pelini waits an extra half beat to snap it. MSU has both DE offsides.

If only we made this adjustment roughly 50 minutes earlier...

 
I don't care if this had been mentioned already, but it obviously needs repeated if so. The clap is the quarterback signaling Pelini that he is ready for the snap. Pelini can snap it at any point from then on. It is not like saying hike or go. Just the cue that Pelini can snap it whenever.

Obviously a Spartan clapping when Tommy is looking elsewhere or communicating with Ameer our whomever could be advantageous. Also noting how long after Tommy claps when Pelini snaps it for a quarter can help you anticipate the snap if he's, consistent with his times.

 
This wasn't an adjustment thing like Dantonio said. There are multiple plays where the linemen shift without clapping. #43 for MSU was the culprit every time. He is a linebacker, who each time he claps, drops into coverage. He is the one just trying to cause confusion.
