***** What did we learn - Boilermaker Edition *****

The D was pretty stout, considering how little Randy Gregory's name was called

This team will have a tough time getting back to the elite echelon as long as they keep leaving points on the table

Tim Beck, Shawn Watson, are the same guy, and both have the ability to put victories in jeopardy...

We need to knock of the shotgun snaps if they're going to be mishandled
Shawn came back for a raise. Seriously though..I had a feeling Tim and his unit would jeopardize our chance at CCG.

Finally got to watch the game this morning. Here's what I've got:

*Defense continues to grow and improve. Purdue's 2 TDs came off of busted plays. Get those fixed, and this defense is terrific.

*Maliek Collins is an absolute man-child. I love watching him play!

*Cross is a decent runner who I've always liked, but Newby showed some flashes yesterday. He's really fast, and I'd like to see him develop his lateral quickness and explosiveness. Bussey, Cross, and Newby should be a nice 3 headed monster next year. Add Taylor in the mix, and I like what I see.

*Tommy was obviously affected by the wind. So was the other QB. I'm not as concerned about Tommy as I was just reading the stat line. Both picks were wrong routes by Westy, and TA had a hard time adjusting to the wind whether he was throwing into it or with it. He will be fine

*I continue to like the mentality of this team. Armstrong is a tremendous leader, as is Ameer, Bell, Mitchell, Gregory, Cooper, etc.

*Biggest concerns: Ameer's knee, Beck getting too pass-happy, and the snap situation. We will see how these pan out.

What did I learn:

Sitting in a windy stadium sucks.

Looked like playing in one sucks too.

Purdue is improving, but not enough on this day.

Bell needed 6 yards to break the receiving yards record at Nebraska... he got 5.

Nice to see those blocked punts.

NU's field position advantage was remarkable; Purdue didn't have much of a chance.

Ameer is human after all.

It's a high-class problem we have complaining about stats because the victory was never in doubt.

Our offense played poorly and still beat Purdue by 7 points more than Michigan State did.

All of our goals are still in front of us.
"beat Purdue by 7" I think I saw that the final score was 35-14. Did you learn your math skills in South Dakota? Just a refresher from an old guy who doesn't use a calculator all the time because he can still do math in his head. 35 minus 14 equals 21. Next time I'm at McDonalds and pay for a burger and coke with a 5 I hope its you waiting on me. If my change is too little I'll catch you and if its too much I'll leave

happy.

I'm too lazy to find the double face palm image right now. At least you made me laugh with your misplaced arrogance.

Decent numbers without context against 7 bad teams isn't all that impressive.
Sounds like the Big 8 days in the 80s.
Except back then it was elite numbers and conference championships.
Super conferences have changed things. Back then, we were first or second in an 8 team league......similar to a division now.
Oh my good god no. I mean, absolutely not.
Not sure what you're shooting for here. Big 8 champ had to be better than 7 teams; B1G champ has to be better than 13 teams. Not to mention there used to be co-champs that went away with conference championship games. It's mathematically harder to win a title now than back then.

Wait, you think it's easier to win the B1G than the Big 8?

He was comparing a division championship to an old big 8 championship. Which isn't even remotely close.

And winning the Big ten this year would be easier than some old big 8 championships, yes.

"Amazingly", during the greatest 5 year span in Nebraska football history, Osborne did not win the conference championship in the very first year of going from an 8 team conference to a 12 team conference.

I'm really not sure of the point here.

"Well, three things I know for sure ...

"It's the receiver's fault when I throw the ball poorly.

"It's beck's fault when I throw into coverage, especially when I know we should be playing conservatively.

"It's the center's fault when I drop the snap."

--- Tommy Armstrong
Wow. Just wow. You are a piece of work guy...

Here you go, listen to this and then tell me Tommy even remotely holds these opinions...
