Nebraska was an 8-4 teams with injuries and missing their starting qb just the same as Georgia. Im sure the motivations were the same. This whole "Georgia didnt care" argument is a crock of bullsh#t. Had they not cared, I doubt they find a way to battle back from 2 scores to try to win. Get a life.

I mean, there were reports of them partying until midnight in the hotel room the night before and the quotes were pretty indicative of that.

Plus I'm pretty sure. Nebraska tried to win in the 2010 Holiday Bowl against UW too, but you can't tell me they were motivated.

Bowl Victory Ever That Proves The Death Of The SEC that was the Gator Bowl, I think we all know the motivation level for Georgia and the injuries to both teams.

The 2013 Georgia defense gave up the most yards per play of any defense in Richt's history as the HC and was bottom 3 or 4 in the SEC of ppg allowed. They lost 3 of their top 4 (5?) defensive backs and I believe 2 of the 3 kicked off (or transferred) were starters. Georgia also lost the all-time leading passer in the history of the SEC. Their OL returned 2 starters. Granted, they added Pruitt and that's perceived as a huge upgrade to 3rd and Grantham.

Your sarcasm is noted but it doesn't work with me. I don't believe it was the greatest ever and spare me the typical SEC loss response of, "we weren't motivated". You're further proving my stance without even knowing it. Please continue, this is enjoyable.

No they we'rent. Anyone know knows football and understands the intracacies of mentality and rematches wouldve known 2 weeks prior that Nebraska had no chance in hell against Washington.

But still, this whole thing of not caring, we'll I'm sorry. Yes it is an excuse and a reason, but that doesnt dismiss the fact. Motivation is part of the game. it's part of "talent". Nebraska was better on that day. Oklahoma was better than Alabama on that night. That's not an indictment on Nebraska and Oklahoma. it's on Georgia and Alabama. They didnt care? Irrelevant to the discussion but I'd venture to guess 2-3 at the best. They're not a good team, no matter how much ESPN hypes them up.

ESPN was all over Arkansas being better than they are. It was non-stop through the game, at halftime, and the short discussion(s) with the night recap. I'm beginning to wonder if you actually watch games or as someone else mentioned, are trolling.

Wait a minute, you can't defend your Georgia stance and this is the best you come up with? Come on dude, spare me the time if this is the best you have. The 2010 Holiday Bowl had to deal with playing someone twice in a 3-month span, after Sandusky-ing them on their home turf. No matter who it is, it's tough to beat a team twice in the same season. Washington proved it that year, Wisconsin proved it in 2011 and Alabama proved it against LSU years prior. With all the smack UW talked after that a$$-whooping in Seattle, there shouldn't of been one issue for motivation with Nebraska. None. Nada. Zilch. UW beat us, plain and simple.

B2B bowl games, 12 months apart, are a completely different discussion. UGA would've had a much better argument regarding motivation the previous bowl game. Yards away from a national title game and boom, dream season over and Capital One Bowl here we come.

Agree to disagree here. I don't think Georgia was obviously a better team than us this year.

NU/Georgia is actually an interesting comparison because both teams lost their four year starter at QB from the year before and unquestionably their best player is their star RB. Very similar.

They may have more perceived talent due to recruiting rankings, but there was not a discrepancy in the talent gap between them and us coming into the season. They were assigned a higher expectation strictly due to Gurley, recruiting, and their conference.

With Alabama's schedule, yes, I believe NU would be 8-1 at this point.

And we are all admitting they're the best teams, the only way there'd be a bias is if they weren't and still got in.

And before there's a flip 2011 reference, name another team besides USC that belonged there. You can't.

You'd almost think ESPN ranks the teams.

Actually the coaches and beat reporters do that. ESPN then reports that assessment.

And now a Selection Committee with both Tom Osborne and Barry Alverez on it are making up their own minds, and at the moment they appear to agree that the SEC West is pretty loaded.

There's a conflict of interest involving the SEC and ESPN. Won't argue that. But the argument that it's all about money cuts both ways. And in that way, Chris Fowler is correct. A strong Big 10 contender doesn't threaten ESPN at all. In fact, it's preferable. Arguments, demographics and viewership favor getting representatives from four different conferences and regions in the first NCAA playoff. The SEC is loaded with good teams and rabid followers. That's not a creation of ESPN. That's a creation of the SEC. Millions of people would love to see the SEC get that look of smug superiority wiped off its face. That works for ESPN, too.

How much is the SEC overrated? I honestly don't know. But when I look at the Big 10 West and look at the SEC West, I have to think Nebraska is lucky to be where we are.

I do think the Huskers can beat any given team on any given (if really lucky) day. But does anyone think Nebraska is 8 - 1 playing in the SEC West?

What exactly makes a 17-10 win by Miss. St. over Arky a better game than a 20-19 Maryland last minute kick over Penn State? The fact that Miss. State has a 1 in front of their name and is relevant for the first time in forever?

That game got TONS of play on ESPN - try again...

Both Maryland and Penn State were offensively stagnant most of the game so it wasn't exactly exciting. The rash of penalties during the Penn State game was kind of fun though if you're into the drama (which is why the game made ESPN) - but the 6 turnovers between the two meant is was a pretty sloppy thing to watch from start (missed handshake) to finish.

On the other hand, watching Arkansas hold the ball for most of the game made for a pretty boring affair if you're a normal fan, but Nebraska fans love a pound the rock, eat up clock type of offense so it was enjoyable for me. 850+ yards of total offense is better than barely 400 any day as a fan.

I never said there wasn't any reason Nebraska SHOULDNT have been motivated for the UW game. I just said they weren't. And their post game quotes relayed as such. It was the typical "well we came out pretty flat......" Mantra that usually gets uttered several times a year here.
And you expect announcers to not build up and credit a team widely thought to lose and lose big hanging with and nearly beating top five teams? I am honestly wondering what kind of fairness doctorine you want Espn to adhere to at this point.
