With a name like "Freedom Trophy", I feel like the winners should get control of the other state or something.

It didn't have either the first year it was introduced. Like it or not..this trophy isn't for us, and likely not for our kids. It might mean something to our grandkids...that's the way these things gain history and character...with time. At least it isn't some pig...

I would have liked to see an idea including more obvious iconography of the two programs, characteristics like our red jerseys or emphasis on the running game. I could see something like Red Dawn or Running Red. However, at least there is a reason for the current trophy, link.
