What is the highest you think Bo Pelini is capable of given competent coordinators?

Who the f#ck voted MNC.....and...there...are..two of them? What has Bo done that gives anyone the dream of a crystal ball? Please tell, I'm dying to know just in case I missed something.

 
This is really the key to dumping Bo. There is fear out there about us dumping a winning coach. We'll get the negative PR at first for dumping a 9 win coach but the bottomline is that Bo has not won any conference championships while here. It is not that difficult to get that message out and get a new face for the program that is more likeable to boot. Bo was hired to win conference championships and that has not happened. If you apply that same standard to programs considered to be college football elite, then it makes a lot of sense why we need new leadership and direction. #ControlTheMessage

couldns agree more. Gotta control the message and make it fully clear why he is being let go.....inability to adapt preventing his team from success.
 
Bo can absolutely win the national championship as long as he is the head coach of a program like Nebraska. He just can't seem to put it all together. With UNL's resources, though, it's not inconceivable that all the pieces will fall into place for him.

I just think we can do better.

The "firing a 9 win coach" argument is SOOOOO played out and asinine. It's just flat out wrong. Those same people saying that seem to ignore the fact that while we're winning our 9 games a year, our prestige and the weight we carry as a program is probably declining. That's what happens when you get blown out twice a year and drop a couple games you should've won.

They act like we have some infallable air around the program that we'd be ruining by letting go of a marginal head coach. That's just a flat out lie.

This is exactly where I'm at Zoogs.

Given time and admin/booster support, I think eventually everything could fall right where he could certainly contend for a MNC every once in a while and possibly win one. A lot of that is luck, let's not beat around the bush. I just don't think he'll be able to do so consistently, with the flaws and shortcomings we've shown. And I don't want to wait around that long, frankly, for something that MIGHT happen ONCE IN A WHILE.

I don't think he can acheive consistent greatness.

and that's why you have to control the message. What the AD says during the firing press conference will be played on repeat....just ask Pedersen. You have to make it clear the 9 wins were hollow.

+1. I don't think, however, that the program will get that much negative PR, if any. The perception of Pelini outside the state of Nebraska is terrible, as anyone who lives elsewhere can tell you. Nor are these feelings new to this season.

Pelini said it himself, everything he has asked for, he received. Support and money are not really factors when it comes to the football program here. The guy running it just does not know what to do with the parts.

Pelini is the guy who got the keys to a Ferrari, but had never driven stick before, and still can't keep the car from bucking or stalling on occasion, and struggles with a smooth shift between gears all the time.

Time for a new driver, because a guy like that is never going to win a race. Even against a Ford.
