Let's rewind a little, shall we?

Just 3 short months ago, Shawn Eichorst spoke to the AP about Pelini's job status:

"Eichorst told The Associated Press that the program is stable and that the Huskers have a seasoned coach who has won a bunch of games."

Eichorst' stance is very matter of fact. Win or lose this Friday against Iowa, and whether we like it or not - Bo Pelini will be the head coach moving forward.

SE can have all the stances he wants, when he has some major boosters pissed off standing at his desk, he'll do what he's told. Until then whether he stays or goes is only speculation, my guess? He's gone..........

Eichorst served as the University of South Carolina’s Senior Associate Athletics Director for Administration from 2004 to 2006. With the Gamecocks, Eichorst oversaw daily operations of the department and supervised Lou Holtz’s and Steve Spurrier’s football programs and Ray Tanner’s baseball program. The football team was bowl-eligible each year during Eichorst’s tenure, and the baseball program competed in the 2004 College World Series. Additionally, he coordinated and supervised multi-million dollar facility projects, including a state-of-the-art football training facility.

Anybody that had ANYTHING to do with bringing the Ol' Ball Coach to a school gets my vote...for now.

 
What do you expect the AD to say at the beginning of a season?

Last year was a tough season, and the response was to present a unified front. The AD made it clear that Nebraska was throwing more resources than ever before behind the program and that the current staff had all the support it needed. The current staff acknowledged this, there were many cat moments, and all in all the red carpet was laid out. All Bo had to do was go out and turn in a good year, a step forward, and a lot of wins.

If that doesn't happen and this season again ends with a whimper, I can't see the AD doing that again. Last year was a not-so-subtle "one last chance." If Bo doesn't take a step forward, it'd be an endorsement of the status quo.

The tricky gray area will be hit if Nebraska wins an uninspired, sloppy finale against Iowa. I can't see Bo being canned without the opportunity to break through #4losses. That just doesn't set up the next coach very well, in my opinion. Knowing our luck, that's exactly what's going to happen.

I expect Eichorst to feel the same as he did then. Bo isn't going anywhere. Shawn understands we're not going to win championships every year. This is his second season serving as Bo's boss and two winning seasons. For Pelini to save face IMO a full evaluation of his staff should be in order. I think you cut the weak links out. The coaches who are not on the same page up to this point and those who have made no improvements. I'm not going to point them out. It's pretty obvious which assistants need the pink slip. The question is whether Bo has the stones to make such a decision.

One would hope that the bronze medal game in the highly respected Big Ten West has no bearing on Bo's future. That game means nothing in the big picture.

Hopefully he'll be fired regardless of the outcome.

Winning seasons are goals for programs like Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Illinois. So the two winning seasons means absolutely nothing here. Also that statement by Eichorst means nothing. 3 months ago we didn't give up the single game rushing record and lose to Minnesota at home since 1960. So yeah things have changed a little bit, I assume Eichorst's stance has changed as well.

It's realistic to think that we can't win championships every year. But with the schedule that Bo was afforded this year, a 8-4 or 9-3 record with a 3rd or 4th place division finish is inexcusable. We had 2013 built up for years in advance because the schedule was so soft. The schedule this year was very much the same. Bo has been given every resource imaginable and couldn't even give us a crack at the title game in either year. This record with this schedule is simply not meeting job expectations, IMO.
The sad thing is that the rest of the nation WANTS to believe in us. When you look at the AP, Coaches, and CFP polls, we were nearing top ten all of them before the past two games. They see the talent on this team now, they remember the rich tradition and the dominant teams of ole. But Bo continues to curtail our potential. The blowout losses are frankly extremely embarrassing and further prolong a return to our rightful spot as a true power program by severely damaging our national perception.

At this point you have maybe three or four assistants worth saving. Brown, Warren, Fisher, and Kaz are really the only ones who have pulled their weight. So you're talking about essentially gutting the staff, new coordinators for both sides, and who knows how they feel about wanting their own assistants or not. Also, you can tell Bo he needs a new DC, but he's so proud I guarantee you he's going to want to keep his system. So he's not going to want to go outside his coaching tree to get a proven, dynamic hire like Muschamp. Essentially we're probably going to be replacing Pap with another Pap to signal in the ad and bring Bo his coffee. I don't know that I buy replacing only a LB coach is going to fix the D. I also don't trust Bo to make necessary changes, so I expect us to be about the same distance from being a true blackshirts defense as we are this season... That is, too damn far away.

My favorite analogy for the situation is a clunker car. If you have multiple parts that need replacing at once and it's an old, inefficient car, does it make more sense to keep putting new parts in it over and over or just get a new car?

When I stop and think about the real possibility of Bo telling any of the coaches under him to kick rocks, logic tells me that's absolutely ludicrous. There is a whole list of crazy things that would happen before that. It would never ever happen. It's Bo's way or the highway.

Bo hasn't won any sort of championship here yet. He's been here 7 years. As far as cutting those who haven't made any improvements, lets start with the coach who has lost 4 games every year he has been here.

 
These threads are stupid. Did the OP expect the AD to say Bo will be fired at the end of the season to a media person? Use the fricken brain people.

 
Stop living in the past!

Knowing Iowa...they'll fall on their face Friday and we'll keep Bo. Lousy Hawkeyes...seize the moment! Save us...what the hell am I saying!
