Farewell Ameer Abdullah---thanks for the memories

Always loved to watch Ameer play. When he would score a touchdown, he would act like he had been there before, instead of doing some arrogant flip and showing up the other team....

The one thing I always loved about Ameer is how he taps the defender on the hat when they get up, always congratulating them on the tackle. It seemed like the harder he got hit the quicker he got up and the tougher he played. Musta been the baby brother boxer mentality.
Was actually talking about this last night as my favorite part of Ameer's game. I think he tapped the safety twice on the helmet after he was tackled and finally the saftey 'got it' and started tapping Ameer back on the helmet. Just a good kid and a great player, he will be missed.

Ameer and Rex are two of the most outstanding individuals to come through this program.Thankyou both!
How fortunate were we as Husker fans to have had the privilege of having these two kids back to back. Seems like each one was a once a generation type student-athlete.

This is what I remember about the dominant teams of the 80s - 90s. The backs would pat the tackler on the helmet or shoulder after the hit. The O-linemen would pancake a defensive lineman, then help him up and head back to the huddle. The Blackshirts would demolish a back/blocker/receiver, then help them up and head back to lineup. Occasional bursts of emotion, but basically, line up, give 100% effort, execute, rinse and repeat.

I still remember my first "wow" moment with Ameer. His kick return against Fresno his freshman season...

That makes me remember what Brian Bosworth (I know sacrilege to even mention him here) about Doug DuBose. He said it used to drive him crazy, he would tackle him and DuBose would pat him on the head and say "nice tackle Brian".

I hope he gets some legit shots in the nfl at rb and not just drafted as a return guy/ 3rd down back

Ameer Abdullah was one of the hardest working players on the team. From a return man with dreads to the heisman quality running back he is today. Thank you for coming to the University of Nebraska and continuing the tradition of great running backs. It is a shame that we couldn't get you closer to the all-time rushing record.

Yall have pretty much said it all. Will miss Ameer too. Great player, Great Captain, Great human.

You'll be missed Ameer. I thought you deserved better and wish you had one more year. Thanks for representing the progrum with class.
