SoCal Husker Terry
Walk-on
Always loved to watch Ameer play. When he would score a touchdown, he would act like he had been there before, instead of doing some arrogant flip and showing up the other team....
Was actually talking about this last night as my favorite part of Ameer's game. I think he tapped the safety twice on the helmet after he was tackled and finally the saftey 'got it' and started tapping Ameer back on the helmet. Just a good kid and a great player, he will be missed. The one thing I always loved about Ameer is how he taps the defender on the hat when they get up, always congratulating them on the tackle. It seemed like the harder he got hit the quicker he got up and the tougher he played. Musta been the baby brother boxer mentality.
How fortunate were we as Husker fans to have had the privilege of having these two kids back to back. Seems like each one was a once a generation type student-athlete.Ameer and Rex are two of the most outstanding individuals to come through this program.Thankyou both!
This is what I remember about the dominant teams of the 80s - 90s. The backs would pat the tackler on the helmet or shoulder after the hit. The O-linemen would pancake a defensive lineman, then help him up and head back to the huddle. The Blackshirts would demolish a back/blocker/receiver, then help them up and head back to lineup. Occasional bursts of emotion, but basically, line up, give 100% effort, execute, rinse and repeat. The one thing I always loved about Ameer is how he taps the defender on the hat when they get up, always congratulating them on the tackle. It seemed like the harder he got hit the quicker he got up and the tougher he played. Musta been the baby brother boxer mentality.

Thanks for posting that...the defender from Fresno is still looking for his jockey strap.I still remember my first "wow" moment with Ameer. His kick return against Fresno his freshman season...
