The Miami game was great, I was so glad to be there and wish every game was like that. Unfortunately there have been other games I have been at where I have been yelled at to sit down, and many others I know have had that same experience.

It can be pretty lame, depending on where your seats are, and don't go to a concert in Lincoln that appeals to the older crowd. I went to Elton John, It was like a taping for a PBS production. Seriously.

I am very proud of our fan base. I love hearing the GBR chant on TV against road games. I love seeing us fill half of the stadium at Northwestern, Purdue, and probably Illinois and Indiana. I love driving to a road game and seeing half the cars on the highway with Nebraska flags and magnets. I never get tired of hearing stories from announcers talking about how classy this fan base is and how much respect they have for us. I love reading articles from sportswriters of other teams talking about how great their experience was in Lincoln.

Yes, we can be louder and more intimidating, but I am proud of the fact that we aren't like Colorado, Missouri, or Wisconsin. What exactly is an intimidating fan base? I want our football team to be intimidating, but what is the fanbase supposed to do to be intimidating. Do we want visiting teams or fans to be fearful for their safety when they come to Lincoln? We can still be nice fans and also be loud. The intensity will come when we have something meaningful to play for. That's not something you can realistically put on the fans to create every game.

I envy Wisconsin. Their fans freaking bring it.

Their fans also barely show up by halfway through the second quarter.

They are still in line, Wisconsin has a goofy system of getting students in. They also have double the students to get through than Nebraska.

At the perimeter of Gate 5, students will go through security and have their vouchers scanned by ticket-takers. Once inside the Gate 5 perimeter, students will be presented with a series of section chutes, which correspond to different sections of the student section. (P, O, N, M etc.) Students will be able to choose which section they want to sit in, by going through the chute that is labeled with their desired section.

Once students go through a section chute, they will receive a section reserved ticket from a representative of the Athletic Ticket Office. Each student is expected to sit in the section printed on their section reserved ticket. Groups of friends should make sure to enter the same section chute at the same time in order to be allocated tickets in the same section.

Eh. Agree to disagree but even if you're right, Death Valley is the pinnacle and it's not even close. Nobody's biggest games get near as crazy as their biggest games.

I'd venture to say that's a little hyperbole. But it does fall back on what you said earlier, that if Nebraska is a team others fear to play, Memorial Stadium will be a place other teams fear to play in. Memorial can be rocking, I've heard it on TV and I've witnessed it myself (2011 Ohio State comes to mind). You can bet the place will be rocking again when Oregon visits us in 2016 and when Wisconsin and Ohio State travel to Lincoln in 2017. Memorial Stadium can be as loud as any stadium in the country when it wants to be.

The problem is the want to be loud, which sorta falls back to the point LoMS was making. It's human nature to be more excited about some things than others. Ohio State @ Nebraska is more appealing and raises the adrenaline more than Rutgers @ Nebraska. Of course, the number next to each team's name helps with that. #4 Rutgers @ #2 Nebraska is more appealing than UR Ohio State @ UR Nebraska.

Why do people constantly get this quote wrong?

The sign doesn't say "best fans in college football."

It doesn't say "most knowledgeable fans in college football."

It doesn't say "classiest fans in college football."

The sign says, "Through these gates pass the greatest fans in college football."

Maybe that's a reference to character. Maybe that's a reference to the width of our butts. Whatever it is, it's quite often gotten wrong, or used as a weapon by disaffected fans angry at other fans. All of which is pretty stupid, all of which could be fixed if we made one simple change - and backed it up every game day.

Nebraskans are already nice enough. What we need to do is make more noise.

Does this mean that Kim Kar-crash-ian is the greatest of the great?
