Mike Riley's Staff

The non-co-DC thing is rather interesting. That means we got a multi-year coordinator at D1 programs to come here to be a position coach.
Which is why there's no reason to rule out Scott Frost for WR coach.

I'll throw this one out as a potential WR coach who is still working. Jay Harbaugh (son of Jim) 25 year old Offensive Quality Control coach of the Ravens. Was an Undergrad Assistant at Oregon State prior to graduation and joining the Ravens. Looks like he got hurt his senior year and Jim reached out to his former HC Mike Riley for a undergrad assistant position at OSU. After graduation went straight to the Ravens under his uncle. Also has seemed destined to make his own path. Jim tried to give him a full time position this past position with the 49ers. I wonder if Jay is in play at Nebraska or Michigan?

Splash hire, IMO

"Jay has forged his own way in this business to be a very good young coach," said Oregon State's Mike Riley, who was Jim's head coach for two years with the San Diego Chargers. "Jay is a grinder. He's like Jim to a T."
Harbaugh called his former coach, Riley, who agreed to help: Jay would enroll at Oregon State and participate in the football team's undergraduate assistant program. Jay did a little of everything, with an emphasis on special teams.

"He set the standard for our program," Riley said.

I'm not sure I'm comfortable hiring Jay as a WR coach, unless he was in a GA or Intern role. Where is his experience in coaching? I'm not confident enough to give him an assistant coaching title just yet. Just my opinion tho.

If Riley has everyone else hired but is still needing to interview WR coach candidates, I wonder if someone turned him down.

You would think he would have a list of people he wanted, and just offer the next person if someone turned him down?
