The only acceptable explanation for this is, if Tommy goes down, there's nobody behind him. Like, nobody.

But if we go 6-6 protecting Tommy, what good does that explanation do?

 
Mobility, I like it. It is all about making defenses have to worry about as many things as possible. Outside runs, inside runs, QB scrambles, screens, crossing routes, deep balls, sideline routes. Make them fear everything.
