Favorite Cover Tunes

Another point about the cover band, is that they may not have the time or talent (still way more musically talented than me) to take an original song and change the timing or guitar chords of an original song. They learn how the song was originally played and then play that song in their performance. They are a "cover band". They are paid a small amount of money to play at a bar or wedding to play the songs how most people are used to hearing them. Some singers are talented enough to be able to mimic numerous lead singers, but they don't make memorable cover songs to me.

Anything that Otis covered of Sam's (and anyone else).

Also, "Valerie" by Amy winehouse is arguably the best improvement on an original by any cover.

I do think this man belongs among the top 25 or so in music ever. Amazing writer, amazing singer (my favorite in the genre) and check out these "covers":

JJ mentioned Sound of Silence by Disturbed which is fantastic IMO. I also like Simple Man by Shinedown. Chris Daughtry along with Brad Arnold done a pretty good cover of In the Air Tonight.

That Simple Man by Shinedown is awesome. I guess it helps when the source song is great to start with. Chris Stapleton and Kings of Leon covered Simple Man recently. Pretty decent.
