What Did We Learn - Illinois

  • The team doesn't give up. Not on each other or on their coaches.

Coaches stay level headed and methodical.
We make stupid, immature mistakes that result in penalties.
We can't seem to get it together in the first half.
We seem to do enough to win - hope we can learn to dominate.

When we play Ohio state our oline will struggle with their athletes.

If we can score 3 times against Wisconsin I like our odds

We need a healthy Westy, and Moore his deep threat ability really helps

We are a pretty average team in the first three quarters of game. We are a top 10 team in the 4th quarter.

We're the worst undefeated team that's beat its opponents by an average of 19+ points in the country.

Great week for a bye

Some injuries that will hurt us down the stretch

We need to treat every quarter like its the 4th

Langs still makes some horrible calls

Riley is a gambler

We have finally gotten calls and penalties to go our way

We are our own worst enemy

Hats off to Newby. I've not been a fan, but the dude won this came today on his legs and more importantly his heart.

I think the distractions might have caught up with the team i.e. Sam, Coach Williams and the flag. A lot of good and bad press, racists tweets and polarizing topics weigh on people.

Gerry, Jones, Kalu and Williams are the strength of the D

Our front 7 was absent until the 4th

Illinois leads the nation in TFL and maybe sacks. It showed

We won. Teams above us lost. We should move up.

Earlier year teams might have "quit". IMO, we've gotten over the mentally weak part.

A huge part of what makes the offense we put together for this season work completely dies without Cethan Carter but there is enough grit and drive in these guys to survive nearly anything.

Oh and DL is still a boss.

First of all, bye week couldn't have come at a better time. 3 key players left the game. What a time for Newby to shine. We needed him to there. Freedom smoked their offensive line big time, however, I felt like he was the only defensive lineman to do that. I'm thinking injuries on offense are what killed us here, and once again, bye week next week. Yay.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to recover my ears after the ref kept forgetting to turn off his mic and blowing the whistle.

Points are hard to come by in the 1st half, no matter who our opponent is.

Can come from behind when trailing at half time (2-0 on season)

A scary, ugly win will always be waaay better than any kind of loss

Somehow Illinois is looking like another Northwestern for us, and I don't know why

Decent team far from excellent.

Tommy again is killer rolling out w/o pressure on him.

Newby may have achieved a higher level next few games will tell.

Foster is a gamer backup.

The linebackers are average at best, need a serious upgrade there. Newby earned his starting position today, just about anybody can have success against us in the passing game in the short to intermediate zone.
