Riley eyeing Donte Williams

So we're still waiting? Interesting.
My God. It's Saturday. The fact we're still waiting is not "interesting" in the least.
When people continue to boast it's a done deal and we're still waiting, yes it is interesting. Listen, I'm as excited as the next guy if we land him but I'm not going to count the chickens before they hatch. It's still fishy to me that Clouse drops a report saying a deal is imminent and 24 hours later we still don't have official word. I could give two sh#ts if it's Saturday or Sunday, when you state that the deal is finalized, I wait til the ink is dried before worrying about who we can steal and what William's official title is. Deals still get made on Saturdays, I believe Tom Herman was announced as head coach of UT only a week ago.
Dude, the confirmed report is Nebraska has offered and is awaiting a decision, and its suooosed to come quickly.OWH and Rivals reported that it's expected he agrees to the contract.
Thanks, dude!
See I see the report mentioning we had offered much better/realistic than saying deal is almost complete. 24 hours and we're still waiting. The longer this waiting game goes on, the worse it'll be for us.

Guy on Arizona 247 board says Zona has the funds to match/exceed our offer. I don't know if he's legit.
If we really wanted him Arizona couldnt keep up with us in the $$$ department.
Not sure that's true. Every P5 program has a ton of revenue.

With 10% of this coming from the academic side at U of A. The athletic department itself doesn't have the money Nebraska does and there's no way they are asking for a bigger subsidy to increase an assistant coaches salary.
It's not clear why the subsidy is set up that way (maybe a tax structure?) but per the chart (from what I can read on my phone), Arizona's revenue outpaces expenses by $8mm.
Which appears to double nebraska's "profit margin."
The reason they had a sub $8 million surplus is because their athletic department asked for almost $9 million from the University, students, and other forms of subsidies, to cover their expenses. Subtract that $8.9 million from their revenues, then subtract their expenses and you have their athletic departments income for that year.

Nebraska didn't accept any subsidies so their athletic department brought in $4 million by themselves.

If it's already a "done deal." Any chance with the volleyball team hosting the first/second round and the basketball team at home too, they are delaying an announcement to give each event it's deserve coverage? A lot is going on in Lincoln this weekend.

I think we'd try to benefit as much as possible by an early as possible announcement considering his recruits currently at AU that are also listing Nebraska as a finalist and the limited days on open recruiting and etc. Perfect world you'd want him in Lincoln next week for all those visitors (but not sure that happens).

And honestly, this would be exciting for some of us that are deep into watching recruiting, but for many fans it's just off season and this news is just a new assistant coming in.

Can't disagree about announcing as early as possible.

If he's as good as advertised, Riley and NU should be making every effort to land him, opening the pocket for tens of thousands of dollars is a better return of investment than a head coach for $3-5mil more, like is desired by many fans.
