Huskers to Play Illinois in Ireland in ... 2022?

I think this is pretty cool! I've always wanted to go to Ireland and it looks like I need to find a reason to go now! :thumbs

Huh. That's fun, but I have no idea why either team would go to Ireland. Notre Dame playing there occasionally makes a little sense, although I doubt they're really embraced by the actual Irish. I suppose in either case your target audience isn't people from Ireland, it's US fans willing and able to fly there for a game. I don't expect a lot of orange in the stands.

Guess we're going to find out how well our fanbase truly travels!

I wonder if this will be played the Saturday of labor day weekend or sometime earlier to allow the teams to get some rest before Week 2.

I just saw this.  It's a neat idea but kind of strange at the same time.  Just wondering how they decided on this game (vs Illinois???) for one.

At least there will be plenty of whisky to help Husker fans who do go and watch.  Maybe Scotty Frosty will have his crap together by then...time will tell.

So we get this game August 28th and then we are off until September 11th when we play Buffalo in Lincoln. We will have 7 home games that year as Southern Louisiana will take the place of the Illinois game. That will be between the Iowa and Wiscy game so essentially a bye week. We would play 4 home games in a row during that stretch.
