firing a coach mid season.

can anyone think of a situation in which this has ever happened? how did it work. I would think that if we promoted within the program we would be fine. we could keep that same terminology and such till the offseason. I mean we replaced solich in the season as well as blake last year

Sorry, I'm not a fan of firing a coach that is high up mid-season (meaning head coach or O/D coordinator). I don't know who we'd replace Cosgrove with. I don't like him, but I think we're stuck with him for sure until the end of the season (even then, who knows).

Absolutely a bad idea. We are stuck with Wizard of Coz until the end of the year and we should wait. BUT THERE CAN BE NO MORE TALK ABOUT 'LETS WAIT AND SEE AT THE END OF THE YEAR'

Day after the bowl game he is gone.

If there is a bowl game, might be the Friday after Thanksgiving!

It's happened. The results were never great. The one case that immediately springs to mind is Jack Crowe at Arkansas. When Ken Hatfield (the Arkansas coach who eventually ended up at Rice) left, Frank Broyles named assistant Jack Crowe as head coach. Crowe's first year was bad - don't remember the won-loss record, but it was bad. The first or second game of the next year, Arkansas lost to Citidel at home. Broyles fired Crowe the next day, and named another assistant as interim. Didn't really help.

There was a similar case a few years ago, but damned if I can remember the team. Again, didn't really help. But both of those were head coaches rather than assistants, and if I'm recalling correctly, neither team had much talent...

This scenario is only used when a season is pretty much lost.

And yes I said a BOWL GAME. I predicted 8-9 wins and I expected mediocrity. I will be proven correct and we will play in a bowl game.....Now I am considered the optomist on the board...LOLOLO

you sure like to talk about yourself

Not a good idea, we are still in good shape in the wins and losses category.

I wish I felt the same way. right now unless the can really pull this group together i think we re looking at 8-4 as a best case scenario. I hope I am wrong. I dont see us winning on the road at KU, MU, or UT.

We'll be playing in a bowl game this year. Whether it'll be in January or not is unknown at this point. Either way Coz has to go.
