Jaquez Yant Awarded a Scholarship

He must be pretty high on the depth chart if they are already awarding him a scholarship.  Good for him for proving himself and earning the scholly.

 
Looked the part in the Spring Game. Had been getting a few "I see you" shout outs by players and coaches prior to that. We badly need some production there this Fall. 

 
OK, I was confused on this from our other conversation a week or so ago.  I thought he was a true freshman.  

But, from your info, he's not eligible for a scholarship because he's been in the program for a year.  Right?  Before now, if he would have been given one, it would have had to go against our 25 number from 2020.

I assume that was a typo because he *is* eligible because he's been here for a year.  You are correct that before now he would have counted against the 25 limit.

 
Well I guess that answers our question.  Also solidifies that we wasn't just a spring story and is competing for playing time or they wouldn't of put him on scholly.

 
He was originally on shaky ground to qualify, right? Must be doing OK now.

Glad we've got him. I don't know if I see him as a starter in the near future, but he definitely looked like he belonged on the field in the spring game, no complaints. And I have a feeling we're in for a wild year for RB depth, so he could still end up getting plenty of play time.

 
After seeing him live Held is 100% correct. Drop 10-15 lbs and this dude could be something.

LJS: "The NCAA a few years ago changed its rules regarding walk-ons, allowing a non-scholarship player to be placed on scholarship after one year at a school without counting against the school's 25-man annual new scholarship limit. Previously, a player had to be a walk-on for two years."
