2021 Fall Camp Notes - Running Backs

Wyatt Mazour actually got in game, meaningful reps for us recently. If a guy like Yant isn’t playing much because the players in front of him are better, we have grown leaps and bounds in talent. That makes me happy.

Fast forward to 5:40 mark, and evidently multiple RBs said Ervin "went off" during the scrimmage.

We have a lot of good picks at RB, but if their first choice isn't working out on game day, I'll be pissed if we stick with them for half the season like we did Mo. Washington over Ozigbo.
Ozigbo had 90 yards on 29 carries the 3 games before he became a starter. Bell had 33 for 171 in those 3 games. I'm not really sure this example proves your point.

Yant will play some, Johnson and Scott will see a lot more bench time. Stepp not ready for a lot of carries, i suspect.

many were already marking down Stepp as the number one back, before he even got here.  competition has been tough, Ervin snd Morrison are coming on.

Yant will also be a 4th quarter closer, in all likelihood.

I don't see how Johnson sees the field. He cant break a tackle to save his life. I'm sticking with Ervin, Yant, Morrisson/Scott when needed and losing Stepp early to injury.

Prior to the spring game I think that's an accurate statement. And not all that surprising as he's a Sophomore and the two guys you mention are freshmen.

But then we played the spring game.    :)

It's really exciting seeing Ervin emerge so quickly. Morrison was a guy that I thought would wind up doing really well here going back to around his commitment. Both guys have great body types for the B1G. Stepp does too, I just don't know how shifty of a guy he is - we'll see though!

Rewatching our games I was actually pretty impressed with Johnson. His TD run against Iowa was pretty nice.
You would have had to look REALLY hard

Career stats 8 carries for 30 yards- EPIC

AND WE HAD A 5 FOOT 5 INCH GUY RUNNING THE BALL A BUNCH>  <_<
