Govt & Election Reform Mega Thread

What is it in his voting record indicates he was trying to be "Democrat Lite"?

Well,

• He voted to repeal Obamacare.

• He opposed the Dodd-Frank Act, which was a wall street reform and regulation bill after the recession.

• He wants to penalize sanctuary cities

• He wants to defund abortion services

• He voted against the Equality Act, which would have added gender/sex related protections against discrimination to the Civil Rights Act.

• He's voted against removing marijuana from the controlled substance list

• He voted against impeaching Trump

• Voted along with Trump 90% of the time (https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/congress-trump-score/house/)

• He denounced QAnon

• He denounced Trump's claims that the election was stolen/rigged

• After the Jan 6th terrorist insurrection of the capitol, he called for Trump to be removed from office via the 25th amendment.

• He voted for impeachment the 2nd time

As we all know, these are all essentially very close to Democrat held beliefs. Anyone with any sense can clearly see he's center left.

Ah ha.  Rino!!!

I saw this mentioned elsewhere so can’t take credit, but:

What if the ballots for each election didn’t have party affiliation next to each candidates name.  Instead it would just list the people running for each office and it puts the onus on each voter to actually research the candidate some instead of voting straight ticket or looking for the R or D and voting that way.
I would agree with that. Ranked voting also be great too

His sham impeachment vote/votes are a good starting point.

Just vote, no multiple votes. If that is a good starting point, it's also a good ending point, as there's nothing in his history that associates him with Democratic ideology. Unless you're claiming that all it takes to be Democrat party-adjacent is to denounce qanon and be willing to disagree with Donald Trump.

Thanks.  You just confirm the cult of personality that the Republican Party has become.  It's not about policy but about complete fealty to one guy.
No.  Even Democrat constitutional scholars thought the impeachment was a sham.  You know those same scholars who voted against Trump in the election.  You just confirmed your hatred of one particular man clouds your judgement too much from thinking rationally.
