No reason to lose Saturday

This is one of our last home games against an opponent who has just taken a 35-7 pounding to Texas Tech. There is no way in hell we should lose this game & if we do Callahan needs 2 be removed immediately. I really dont see how we could lose this game, but then again I wuznt expecting 41-6 vs Missouri & 45-14 against OSU. I think that we will win but another disappointment like the last 2 games (I at least expect us to compete against A&M) & Callahan needs to be GONE.

I can think of a good reason why we might lose this game: the incredible, category-5 torrential whirlwind of distraction that has plowed through the entire staff, team, and fandom this past week.

But I hope our players strong enough to withstand it. This is a very winnable game, and we all believe in them.

I just hope our players show more fire and better attitude..and go out there and hit somebody like Thenarse did on that punt last wk :bonez

For anyone who's ever played in a game of football distractions don't mean anything once the game starts. Once the game starts not one of those players is thinking about their new athletic director or the job security of their coach. Whatever is going on off the field is not thought of during the game. If anything this week should be used as fuel to light some fire in the stadium...Just my two cents from experience.

Well, we can't stop the run and our receivers can't catch the ball. They've been practicing through monumental distractions all week, and most of them don't come out to play anyway. If by 'winnable' you mean AtM is a beatable team, sure, I'd agree. Unfortunately all we have to put out on the field against them is the 2007 Pinkshirts and the 2007 Callahan Dropped-Pass/No-run machine.

I'll believe a win when I see it. What I did see, though, was a team who couldn't defend the option last week.

Uh......ohhhh.

I can give you many reasons why we could lose... Stephen MgGee has 544 yards rushing, Jorvorskie Lane has 445 yards rushing and 433 yards rushing. That's 203 yards a game just from those three alone. Our Defensive front seven has shown that we can NOT stop the run and even though A & M has the 116 rated passing defense in the nation if they can run the ball from the opening kickoff (Which they will probably take if they win the toss and get ahead right away, I mean who wouldn't) and run the ball right down the field NU is in trouble already. It happened last week. I know they only put up 7 on Tech but it's sad to say but Tech's D is better than Nebraska's. One thing NU does have going for it is that for some reason Fran doesn't get the ball into his playmakers hands sometimes. But you can bet he sees this rushing D and A & M is licking their chops. What better way to beat a passing team at home than running over them and not letting their Offense on the field. This formula has worked already this year. Now I think if NU fills gaps they will be ok but A & M is going to get their rushing yards regardless, I think NU has to hold them below 300 to win....

Also A & M's front 7 is pretty decent, and I think NU's strength is the young RB's that showed heart running, maybe it's a fairly quick game with all the rushing attempts. If NU can have 35-40 rushing attempts in this game I think they have great chance to win. Or if NU can strike on the deeper routes, past 15 yards is where A & M is vulnerable past the LB's, but WR need to catch the ball first! Either way, each team is under a huge distraction this week, now will they come out to fight for their coaches or will they lay down and die, this is waht really will determine the outcome IMO.

I disagree they'll probably let NU get the ball first then watch as the vaunted west coast offense sputter 3 and out once again. Then NU punts the ball to the opponent one yard line where the crowd will be cheering their heads off. Where Texas A & M then does the Full back option and watch him scamper up the middle not touched for 45 yards.

Well this defense hasn't shown it could stop any player so it won't matter if it is thier playmakers with the ball.

Nothing like seeing your team giving up 10-12 yards a play.
