This Staff Has To Go NOW!!!!

Friend of mine heard on the radio that a NU coach told Gabbert that he didn't know if the staff would be here at the end of the year or not and to do what was best for him. Anyone know if this has been substantiated? If this was said then this staff needs to go immediately before they completely destroy this program. Tradition can only survive so much!!!

 
Father, pretty sure that's accurate (at least, I've heard that rumor as well). I can't say I am shocked that this staff might do something like that, especially after listening to Billy "Spin Doctor" Callahan's last couple of press conferences.

And like Madro said - we don't exactly have an empty stable. We're going to be just fine at the Offensive skill positions for a couple of years.

 
I have heard Gabbert isnt as good as some people say he is.. Great player at practice but doesnt do well in game time.. Just what I heard so not sure if I should really care if he stays or goes.. I guess I just dont want to see him playing for Mizzu or any other big 12 school...

 
Things happen. Let's just pull together and root for the Huskers. Things arent great right now, but we're still Husker family. Have some faith. Things will be good sooner or later. And the guys we have will be the ones getting it done. GBR!!!

The heck?! How is that a bad thing to tell Gabbert? Being honest and saying "Do what you think is best for you" is the best thing a coaching staff can say. It's not their fault that they're in this situation.

Ummmm.... it IS the coaching staff's fault we're in this situation. This team has talent, that can't be denied. So why aren't they producing on the field? The coaches, obviously. There is something wrong with this program that is leading to this horrible performance on the field.

That said, instead of telling a kid to go find other options, they could try selling him on this college, the academics we offer, the city of Lincoln, the fans (who despite some boos and a couple of idiotic statements are STILL the best in the country), and the chance to play at Nebraska, where it really means something, rather than at a school with no tradition, a fan base so fickle they couldn't sell out their stadium if they were giving away free plane rides, and so few chances at a conference or national championship they may as well be playing Division II football.

I have yet to see one single bit of compelling evidence that anyone OTHER THAN the coaches are to blame for this horrendous season. If anyone has some, I'd love to see it.

Kevin Kugler just repeating what Compton said on his show. It was Compton on Husker Highlights that said Coz told him that.

Gabbert telling other Nebraska recruits to go for a visit and listen to Missouri coaches if they call them. That was just reported by Jeremy Crabtree.

No, it's not the coaches fault that Steve Pederson was fired. That was a highly unusual move, and naturally you're going to have ugly consequences. Things get worse before they get better. Recruiting has little to do with a team's record in the end - look at Notre Dame! Yeah, it's the coaches who are responsible for our record, but when they're trying to recruit while everyone sees them as lame ducks on their way out, they're not going to be successful, and nothing they can say will change that. The least they could do is be honest. And they are being honest. BC has been saying, they're trying to keep this recruits. But the bottom line is, they don't know if they'll be here next year.

Why don't we stop the "Coaches NEED TO GO NOW" messages that everybody has heard and just say Go Huskers and hope they play well and win. You saying that they need to go has no bearing on the situation no matter how powerful you think you are. It's getting a little old already.

No, but the fact that he was fired in the middle of the year is what's at the root of all this. Not the fact that our team is doing bad.
