The Doane-Frazier comparison was intended for people who know Nebraska football, obviously, and as "vibes" go, it's not unfair. Having the chance to play for a superstar pulls in some players and motivates others. By Crete, Nebraska standards, Tommie would have been a Deion sized figure.
But maybe the coach's style doesn't translate, and maybe the coach misreads his own pedigree. Superstar athletes often make poor coaches, because they don't understand why young players can't do the same things they and their champion-grade teammates did.
By most accounts, Tommie Frazier turned out to be an arrogant a$$h@!e. Deion has been irritating folks for decades.
Deion may be hard-pressed to field the team he wants in 2023, but we should be able to grade the hire after three years or so. We could all check back then, or keep posting our frothy anecdotal observations. Your call.
