We put in a non-shell shocked QB.  He went 2/7, averaging 4.6 yards per attempt.

Not defending the OL because I didn’t count the protection time on every play. But the ones I did he got at least 3 seconds which is adequate. If he doesn’t get it off before then that’s on him. If you look it up the NFL qbs release at 2.4-2.5 seconds. 
 

So I do wish our OL was better. But to be fair our QB holds ball too long then everyone blames OL for pressure 

yes their D got through on some blitzes. So our line did not pick some of those up well

If Dowdell had been head & shoulders above the other three returning guys, it would have been a good sign - because we already knew that the three returners weren't really very good. The Johnson's are barely "average," in my opinion.

"Average" could work with the right usage this year, but we really needed a back that was better than Dowdell to come in from the portal and help set up better success on 1st down.

But as I watch what our staff has been doing post-Purdue, I kind of doubt they would have even utilized a good running back adequately even if they had one at their disposal.

The staff looks pretty bad right now, IMO.

To be fair, the entire offensive staff has accomplished absolutely nothing of consequence prior to being here, some this is their first coaching job all together

shame on us for falling into this trap again.

Because we’re too busy playing guys who stepped foot on campus when raiola was in middle school and have been piss poor every single year. I cringe every time benhart and the other frosty failures are mentioned for school records in games played

wish Rhule would’ve cleaned house like Deion did when he had the chance. Even our defense, which is “our strength”, is led by guys who know nothing but how to lose and we wonder why we keep going limp d!(k in any game of consequence

I think most of us have been begging for more runs outside the guard and tackle for most of the year and I just don’t understand why it’s so hard for the coaches to call those runs.

Once you come to the realization our OC is brain dead everything makes a lot more sense

until you do you’ll continue to be shocked as to how inept our offensive operation is, across the board

I get how terrible Satt is.   My head was wrapped around that last year.   

What I can’t believe is that Rhule just goes ahead and allows it.  the CEO approach ain’t working for this team.

Rhule basically has this off-season to correct some massive mistakes with his offensive staff

I’m really hoping we see a few headlines in a few hours about changes and shifting of duties but I won’t hold my breath on it. Some posters have commented that he’s a great guy and won’t do that to a close friend- the fact of the matter is we don’t tune into husker football for moral puff pieces, I want a competent product that is competitive. If you do it in a high standard way, great, but i find it annoying as hell that we seem to be saddled, once again , with a staff that has no right coaching at this level simply for the fact that they’re buds with the coach

To wrap a bow on it.   His job is to win football games at a high level, not employ his friends who obviously can’t do the job.

I was listening to 162 this morning and as they were saying, the time of excuses, coach speak is over.  There is a disconnect between the weekday 'chatter' and the weekend results.  I for one did not expect this from Rhule.  With the largest salary bases that Neb has ever paid a HC and his staff, I would have expected much better.  Satt and 'the WR  kid' were the first hints that there may be issues at hand in how and who he is hiring.  The AD (Trev) or the admin at the time should have demanded higher end coaches.  They could have been people Rhule never worked or been associated with but whom Rhule had respect for due to their past accomplishments.  With this type of salary you got to expect and demand more and 'it is just business' when you have to cut ties.  

 
We’ve watched the last two coaches ‘fire their friends’ to save their jobs. It didn’t work. Always feels like a half measure. But what else can you do after year two I guess?
