Don’t forget the wealthy paying their fair share for a fairer tax code that benefits everyone!

(MAGA is absolutely gearing up to argue against that as necessary stimulus, to remain competitive, etc. - but it’s really just to benefit Elon and their donors.)

I agree that we need to address spending, but Republicans aren't serious about stopping it. The political will power to meaningfully address spending is not there and, frankly, will never be there. 

Axing a few contracts sounds good, but DOGE this far has only proven that government spending is mostly efficient and the excess is to comply with laws written by Congress.

The republicans are just as complicit as the democrats in spending. The only difference is the democrats don’t pretend they aren’t for it. They at least own up to it. Just as they champion themselves as the party of freedom, liberty, & promoters of individual rights only to later trample them in legislation. or that they are now anti war post bush only to be itching to bomb Iran, the Houthi’s, or arm Israel.

It’s hard to take them seriously as the party of “fiscal responsibility” when they’re gung ho to pass a tax cut bill for further balloon the deficit. They’ll just say it’ll pay for itself but that’s a bunch of crap.

Donald has threated to primary the only (at the time) person who wasn't willing to pass the spending bill in Thomas Massie lol. Rand Paul was also against it.

Well let's be honest: everyone disapproves of and typically mocks nonsensical spending, and the eye-rolling spans political parties and whatever party is in office at the time. If there's a government grant to study whether flatworms suffer depression or a DEI initiative to make birdwatching more inclusive it's likely to become a punchline for those notoriously liberal late-night comedians. And yes, some of the more ludicrous do get their funding pulled as part of an annual review process.

But here's what's happening now: that National Science Grant to create DEI affinity groups among birdwatchers (that really happened) cost $288,000. Armed with that evidence of wasteful government spending, why not go ahead and gut the Department of Education?

Do you see a difference between those two things? The people scrambling to provide cover for Donald Trump sure hope not. Government spending is the enemy. Period. Enlisting zero business sense, they are making cuts without any cost-to-benefit analysis, hoping you won't notice that the slashing hurts not only the social order, but the many for-profit businesses that surround it, and declines to include the far better funded corporate welfare class among those expected to make a sacrifice.

Still not clear on the government bully analogy. If we're talking Biden era, they are not de-pantsing the little gay kid who likes birdwatching, if anything they are over-protecting his sensitivities -- the opposite of bullying and the very thing conservatives mock. If we are talking Trump era, they are very much de-pantsing the little gay kid because that's always a hoot. If you're still trying to connect bullying to government mask mandates, that doesn't add up either.

This pretty much sums up Trump supporters. Just do something even if it’s the wrong thing to do. 

My preference is, first do no harm. Do the right thing or do nothing. Doing the wrong things is oftentimes worse than doing nothing at all. Trump has been proving this at breakneck speed. Maybe some of you will catch on when it begins to affect you very directly.

I don't see it as destruction. I suspect in the end we will not even notice. I am curious what the purpose of this thread is. Is it to find and ban Trump voters from the board? That would fit the lefts M. O. They seem to like banning and censoring folks that do not share their opinions. If it is to find someone to blame for Trump getting elected, the left should look the in mirror. Most do not realize they created an environment that helped create Trump 2.0, and they continue to make the same mistakes. If a bunch of old ladies sing church hymns across from an abortion clinic, it is egregious, and they should get the book thrown at them. If people burn other people's Teslas and vandalize dealerships, it's OK because it's a "righteous" cause. What is the cause? Oh yeah, Musk is a Nazi. The left has a new "ism" card to play. Guess what. Nobody is listening (had to quote Andor  :D )... at least most aren't listening anymore. Its banging a gong. 

When someone tagged me on this thread to ask a question about Ukaine, they wondered where I had been. I figured the political topic had probably devolved into a dozen threads where people were just ranting about Trump for group therapy, so why bother. Plus the Political topic is a huge time sync. I have enjoyed throwing in the occasional "grenade" and reading the results, but I really do not have the time to spend here. I can't wait for football season. Enjoy the safe space.  :cheers

 
TL;DR

I am MAGA and unquestioningly will support whatever Trump does because ….R, and I assume, against all evidence and without thought, that things will turn out peachy. So I won’t be bothered to provide any reasonable defense of this historic s#!tshow. Fooball.
