Predicting record 2025

I don't think we will truly know where this team is until after Michigan..

If we go undefeated into the michigan game and win, I think 10 wins is possible
If we go undefeated into the michigan game and lose, I think 7-8 wins

If we loss 1 before the michigan game.... hold on tight... 5-6

I see 6-7 wins until I actually see us hold up on defense. I am not overly optimistic after what we lost on the DL and in John Butler as a first time DC to be able to overcome that. ST also is still ST. I expect the offense to be better, but not top 15 caliber to carry the rest of the team.

I would love to hear from the kool aid crew what makes them so confident about the Blackshirts this year though to try and convince myself.

The talent and schedule says 10 wins. That's not pressure, it's just what it is really. Take it game by game and let it add up.

Few bumps in the road (excuses) and Huskers win 7 - maybe 8.

But 10 wins are there for real for real. You lying if you can't see it.

I think it would be a mistake to overlook Cincinnati. We may or may not be out of the woods, but we're not so far out of the woods to act like they're a gimme. Along with 9 other wins.

Only 4 weeks out now. I'm getting the pregame/ preseason jitters. It's not helping that I saw Draft Kings odds at only -6.5 for NU vs Cincy.

I'm sticking with my 7-5 guess for the season but a loss in the first game would absolutely crush my soul and make me wonder where I envisioned 7 wins. 🙃

This is my most anticipated season in quite a few years. Let's start it off with a W.

Frankly, I can see us going 11-1 if Dana and the O really get going and the pre-season kool-aide hype is real; while I can also see us at 7-5 again - where we win the off season in a shutout but lose to teams like Maryland and Minnesota besides PSU, Mi, and USC or Iowa.

I gut says 8-4 until we prove that we can win the games we are supposed to (based on talent and coaching) and also finally win a game we aren't supposed to (looking at you MI or PSU).

@Crusader Husker can you make this into a poll so we can see a chart of the predictions and whereby we all would have to settle on a specific record. Since you are the creator of the thread, you can add it. I was going to do a poll but you started this so no need to dublicate threads.

Ther not being overloook.

At the same time they are not super team.

They are projected last in the Big 12. Maybe they overachieve and finish middle of the pack but they are a team we need to be able to beat to have any kind of a decent season.

I see Nebraska going between 5-7 and 8-4. I really don't think I can pick Nebraska to win many of the coin-flip games on the schedule because they haven't won them in a long time.

I'll predict 7-5 given the schedule.

The line for the Cincy game is -6.5. So clearly at the very least Vegas is not overlooking them.

5-7 and NU has a new staff, which I kind of do enjoy a coaching search especially since Moos, in theory, got all his hires right. Trev, I think, made a bit of a mistake in hiring Rhule but it looks like Rhule has figured out that filling out his staff with professionals was a good idea.

100% this. Until we can start splitting the one score games, we will continue to hover around that 5-7, 7-5 team. We need to figure out a way to start getting some of those 1 score games into the W column. Build from there. 7-5 regular season, while a small improvement is a step in the right direction. Throw in a bowl when and 8-5 looks decent.

I think the DL will take a step back. Hard to replace the experience that left. Graduate, transfer, NFL.....I do think the LB's on paper will be better. Secondary has potential as well being more experienced. Potential new system could be an issue. Anxious to see how Butler's DB scheme fits with his overall scheme now he has the keys.

ST play could finally pull those one score games into the W column. Eck is a wild man.
