Michigan Game Preview

Apparently, Michigan writers may not take Nebraska seriously - at least not this writer. I hope Rhule has this on the bulletin board.

In the trenches, I will be disappointed if the Wolverines can't at least get some pressure. Between Wink's blitzes and Michigan's mixing coverages, they should be able to mess with Raiola some and scare him away from deeper shots, while coaxing a mistake or two. When the mistake comes, you need to catch it. In the run game, I don't know how much the Bugeaters will involve Raiola's legs because I think if they stick to their bread and butter, Michigan should do fine keeping a lid on that. Some dinking and dunking, a big play or two, mixed bag running the ball, keep them to field goals and Nebraska ends up in the teens, as they scored 20 against Cincinnati. This was a bad offense a year ago and I think it's up to mediocre now. If Michigan's defense wants to show they are elite after a bit of a dud in Norman, bottling this group up would be a welcome statement.

So....our offense is just up to mediocre....but if their defense bottles us up, it proves they are elite?

That's some mental gymnastics there.

I am finding this QB matchup interesting.

Nebraska is coming in with a true drop back QB

Michigan is coming in with a dual threat QB that can run well and passes OK.

Historically, that would be reversed.

I wonder if it might be a good idea to play Lateef in our second series. Hear me out, Latif is proven to be a great runner and not too bad of a passer. I think it would just throw a Michigan defense for a loop. They practice against defending a Raiola offense. I just think mixing it up a little would put the Michigan defense back on their heels a little bit. Or is this just a stupid idea?

Screw it, I want diamond formation with EJ, Haarberg and Lateef around Raiola.

All of the film study, game planing, practicing and prep has been done. This is a players game now. A team game and halftime adjustments.

I think we should all sit back, watch and be fans :)

Will be a great atmosphere with loud supportive Husker Vibes.

Let's be happy to embrace this opportunity - win or lose. Because we are getting there day by day.

IMO, this is what a scared team/coach would do. Go out there, run it down their throats the first series and set the tone for the rest of the game.
