I fully agree with you on your first statement but saying Rhule is better than Frost and Riley is not saying much. You could go to a local high school and ask their coach to coach the Huskers and he would have done better than Riley and Frost. Having said that, if you were to ask AI to estimate the probability of Nebraska losing so many one score games, it will crash. It is really mind numbing to try to comprehend how we can lose so many close games. It is coaching for the most part.

Almost every single person we brought in this year from the portal was a starter at their former school. But there are times where you are taking a depth guy. You are not going to pay a starting type player for a backup role as interest from the transfer nor your budget allow it. What you are saying doesn’t match up with the real life picture.

I had looked for others, but only found Jaylen George when I looked for stats on NU guy. But these guys are contributing. They had success at a lower level. Again, my point is this. Get guys who contributed.

With Dowdell, no idea why we didn't pay. I have no idea what our RB room looks like behind EJ. Each week seems like another RB gets sent in as relief of EJ. I like Ives for his size and seemed to play well. As did the others no idea the rotation. Unsure how much money Dowedell was offered or received and if we even offered. I know Rhule said he had a limit and wouldn't match Miami's offer for Brown. Per the talking heads NU offered more relationships and Miami offered more money....That's the future now. TT has allocated $28 million for football in 2025. Sitting at 4-0. 8 more games to see if it pays off. And no idea how much has been spent, just know the off season they mentioned OSU paid $20 million for the NC...
 
Same ole song and dance for years now:

-we cant convert red zone opps to touchdowns, much less field goals, to the average level we should
-our defense folds when we need them to show up
- raiola isn’t it. Recruiting rankings be damned, he lacks heart and pocket presence. Michigan 5-8 in the big ten at best, he looked bad

Cignetti has coached a long time. 133-37 as a HC. Also spent a few years under Saban at Bama and picked up some things I'm sure. Has a track record over time a s a HC vs Rhule and 8 years (on year 9) at NU. He rebuilds then leaves for somewhere else. At least per his track record. If NU wins 10 games this year will he leave when contract is up? Who knows. It's just disheartening when he takes Indy to 11-2, the CFP and has them ranked again this year. And we well, still struggle. Maybe he has taken more veteran coaches, created a better staff, not familiar enough with them to know. Just we have been wandering in the desert since Bo was fired.

Not sure if we could compete with what Dowdell got from Kentucky. And, for my money, I don't think we wanted to.

But this is part of the issue we're in right now. We had a lot of money tied up in the bottom half of the roster. So it's taking us a bit to adjust to directing funds to Rhule's "Top 53." Not sure if they'll take stuff away from the bottom half or if they'll let them transition out, one way or the other.

Nothing is ever apples to apples. In this case Cignetti was a college coach when he took the Indiana job, and basically brought half his current team with him. This year he improved at QB with a very good one in Mendoza.

Rhule on the other hand was unemployed after a failed NFL experiement and had to start with the roster in place.

TBD on Rhule long term and against ranked teams, but comparing things straight up is a fools errand IMO.

I accept your win loss record, touché.

On that note and the argument I make is that Allen was a better coach than Frost and Riley and left a program in better shape than what Rhule inherited vs Cignetti. Cignetti did a great job bringing transfers from his previous school to establish an electric offense. I believe it included a senior QB who knew his system to go with multiple WRs they had rapport with. Rhule made a huge mistake to start the first two seasons.

Add those factors with the easiest patsies of B1G it isn’t terribly surprising to see them compete this well.

Firing Bo was a mistake. We have suffered since. Now, we are begging to get back to Bo’s 9 win seasons. I have nothing against Rhule. He is a nice guy and his heart is in the right place but he will not get Nebraska to any championships. The best he can do is get us to a 9 win season.

Hiring an AD behind TO’s back was even worse
 
Turning the page on this game. Nothing new was learned today. The two major weaknesses we’ve all talked about since fall camp, played into the strengths of Michigan. We will probably not face another d-line this good until Penn State. Really needed our D-Line to step up against the run- but a miracle didn’t happen

If anything I’m warming toward DR a bit. I’ve never been as hyped about him as anyone else. I thought he couldn’t really have done much else and he’s resilient to the end. We need to design plays to compensate for the bad line play.

Archie’s the real deal. Love Barney as the sparkplug. EJ too. Good ball security as well. Onward
