Those No Longer With Us

Yep, that went exactly how I thought it would. Jeff Sims is awful, let alone playing in nasty weather. That was hard to watch.

My last memory of Jeff Sims at Nebraska is his utter failure to run three plays in relief, looking both lost and afraid. Reading between the lines after his demotion, it seemed like he had no intention to fight for the job and would prefer to avoid the pressure of playing football entirely. Really surprised he wanted a sixth year of this torture.

Me too. I keep going he gets a chance. I think he had the potential to be better than some in the league.

Maybe. Kyle Shanahan had a selection of third string quarterbacks with more experience and went with Martinez. The Shanahan system is a real b!^@h of pre-snap motions and timing patterns in a complex playbook, which I'm sure he had simplified in case Martinez went in. As a Niners fan I was torn, the odds of Martinez leading an already decimated offense to victory seemed long. Don't know if he'd even let Adrian use his dual threat advantage, since an injury to Martinez would mean Christian McCaffery running a wildcat for the rest of the game.
