I hope PSU gets their guy sooner rather than later. Recruiting and the transfer portal will take some hits at both of our programs until it's a done deal.

I hope Rhule stays. I like the culture he's reestablish here, the way he represents and promotes the program, and I like the ball he's playing. He's also shown a willingness to change when aspects of the game aren't showing up on the field.

There’s one name and one name only I want. Rhule is going back home, it’s time for us to bring someone back home too.

And that someone is Lane. He’s matured into the man we need. Someone with flair, charisma and a dash of offensive genius.

Zac Taylor doesn’t have college coaching experience, don’t want him. Kalen isn’t leaving bama this early. Lane is realistic for the right price and someone who can run with what Rhule has built. Realistically speaking, lane might be one of the few hires that would keep us in the good graces of the raiola mafia which is huge because that seems to be all that matters around these parts these days

Lane was one of the guys I liked after Frost was fired. I think he is beyond his Crazy Lane days and has settled into being a pretty good coach.

Zac has some experience as a college graduate assistant at TA&M but then went on to the Dolphins. I do see him as a guy who could bring top notch talent here - esp at the QB position. Rely on the DC/OC with good college experience to do the 'college experience thing'.
Love to see him or Lane retain Dana and of course our ST coach.

I still wonder if Urb would have an 'itch to coach' again. He's been high on Nebraska's potential. Maybe he'd like to bring us back to the same status that TO had us at. It would take someone like him or Saben to do so - or maybe there is a hidden gem out there like TO and BD were in their times.

I can't imagine why any NFL coach would ever want to get into the college game now. It is just nuts. And you basically never get a break. I think Belichick is finding that out.

That could be true. If it had more guardrails it would be better. NIL and the portal have made it like the wild west. But if college football was redesigned for what it really is, a NFL farm league, then there would be player contracts and portal rules (thing of free agency) more in line with the way the NFL handles these things. I think it will eventually get there - but it is a mess now. Limiting the portal to one period now is a good first step.

Two of the dumbest comments about Zac Taylor I've seen are "Bill Callahan 2.0" and "We shouldn't hire a former player because it didn't work with Frost". As if that's the reason Frost failed.

He's a great coach. I wouldn't turn my nose up at him.

Odd feeling kind of woven through this discussion.. it's got interesting elements, and at its core is whether or not we like/love Matt Rhule and just how much, and how badly do we want him to stay here.

Thinking back to similar discussions about previous coaches here. Scott Frost's was (finally) about, "when is that freak going to leave?" to paraphrase grossly. With each previous one the talk was mostly about their records here and how we need a better HC. Regarding Coach Rhule there seems to be a sort of non plus meme, as in, if he goes he goes and we wish him well, but heck he seems to be doing okay here.. but it's his 3rd year and his history shows him leaving about now or so.. etc.

Do we need a poll? How badly do you want him to say here? And for how long? Is he betraying us if he leaves? Are we so used to getting new coaches every few years that we don't care very much anymore? What's the truth about all this among Husker fans?
