PSU - What Did We Learn?

I know this sounds ridiculous but I think the D line is close. They hold the line of scrimmage, they just don’t make plays.

I think the problem is the only player on the team slower than our LBs is Raiola. They are always behind.

Trenches are weak
Lack of player development. EJ wouldn't be here if Dana hadn't come in.
A lot of coaches need to be sent packing.
Unsure if we lack athletes or development tbh. A decent amount of star power, but doesn't translate to play.
We need coaches that know the B1G and physicality. Thinks SEC staff guys or guts from the Dakotas.
Butler is lost. His Penn St record was the worst of several years before and after. No idea how to scheme the run D.
We are probably a 6-7 win team. No fire. No urgency. Need more dogs and dudes.

TJ got nice wheels (a little too late)
Barney played hard
EJ did his thing
No crazy TO's
Hoping we see the game plan for Iowa they worked on the past 2 weeks
7 wins and bowling. Improvement

I love the Huskers, but tired of always bitching about them and the staff. I guess I am insane. Expecting something different. I thought we'd beat PSU with TJ and play calling. Going different mode for next week. A little reverse psychology. Iowa will kick the dog sh!t out of us. They run wild and and beat us at home for the 7th (?) time and send the seniors out with an L.

The problem isn’t our LBs are slow. Javin isn’t slow. They take terrible angles and don’t attack the line or the gaps in the running plays. They play over the top of the DL trying to hold up line and then don’t make contact until the RB is 4-5 yards downfield.

Edit: and our DL is just abysmal. They are slightly below average in holding the line, which is fine but they make no plays at all. Nobody gets off any blocks and there is no pass rush. Braden has been pretty disappointing as it seems like none of th DL has made any progress this year.

They have two great RBs and a questionable QB. Yet we played a lot of five-man boxes and tried to use CBs to run-fit.

The DL could be better but we didn't put them in a position to succeed tonight.

The cash has to be on hand, and we need something to make players believe they will make an impact here. They have to be supported and even promoted some. We do not have O line players to get great WR and even great RB's. EJ makes his own yardage and the wear and tear on his body is showing and showed some tonight. Dylan is over rated in my opinion, and will not be a 1st round draft pick or even an early draft pick. But again, may never know because we don't have NFL line or WR . It would be nice to see what Dylan could do with even an average line. I just don't know what the ceiling is anymore for a program like us. I watch a lot of football, and frankly other than SEC teams, the trenches are lacking in all other conferences. Quality of football is different in the trenches. I do not like the SEC, but they are a better brand of football and talent.

I don't think they are very athletic. That's why we had a walk-on converted RB playing LB tonight - to try to get some better athleticism on the field.

But this is what we have done all year. We played the exact same knowing what Penn St was going to do. None of what Penn St did was a surprise to anybody.

I don't know if CEO like coaches work in college football. Saban worked, but he was also in charge of everything along with knowing every play called on offense and having input. Rhule is a decent coach and human being. I don't know if he is fit for NIL era of college football. This is not football like it was. I think that we are about 5 players short on offense from being viable and would say we are about 5 or 6 players away on defense. That's half our roster on both sides of the ball. We have pieces and need more pieces. Find a really good set of offensive line players and a good set of Defensive line players and I think we are changed over night. Just think SUH. He was a one man wrecking ball. That one player like him or even just comparable, makes a huge difference. We also had some great corners. Like I said, just a few players make a huge difference. Everyone else also wants those players so we have to have something better to offer than just money. SEC programs have unlimited cash flow on hand.
