Iowa - What Did We Learn

I would like to hear from anyone who is on here that was of a real age (greater than 16) in the late 70s and 80s. Fire Osborne was a common thing when he lost to OU. Should have they? Why didn’t they? Was it the right move? Is is the right move to keep you HC (rhule) but he has to realize coaching and scheme changes need to happen. Much like I think Osborne did? I really would like to hear from someone with witnessed this

I’d really like an extended sit down interview with Butler going thru each play call to ask questions. “It’s 2 and goal, from your own 3 yard line against Iowa. They have play’d the same offense for 20 years with a strong running game and QB with 12 rushing TDs. You decide to call a 3 man front with all your LBs setting up in the end zone. Why?”

Holgorsen has been really bad in short yardage situations all year. Having a running back with 217 yards rushing, 22 yards receiving, but then only putting up 16 points is just so terrible.

Our defensive line is awful.

There was no progress made in year three when you adjust for not having to play Indiana or Illinois this year.

The terrible defensive play made the special teams improvements a wash.
Really watch the DL and LBs. DL isn't as much of the problem as the LBs are. If our LBs were better, you wouldn't even notice the DLs as much. Then again, how much is scheme.

Iowa wins their Super Bowl and celebrates pretty much the identical season that Nebraska had… From Nebraska fans are mad and demands more… The last thing I want is a husker fantasy end up with a coach that ends up with the all-time most losses and conference history.

Basically what I’m saying is they need a different coach… Not because of this game but just because of everything. They suck at getting guys in the portal… They suck at winning games they should win… And we can’t get to the point where fans are all of a sudden happy with #WinningSeasons…LikeIowaFansAre

Some coaches need to be fired. I would also say Rhule is on thin ice, even with the massive buyout. This can't happen next year.
Bradden (recruiting alone) Butler (buttholeitis), Satt (overpaid and provides nothing), & Donnie can all leave.

Rhule needs to leave Holgerson alone and let him install his offense and not some mashup hybrid. Holgerson has been poop too. Especially in the red zone. Please go away with the 3-3-5.

Same crap different day.

Lock up Raiola. TJ got valuable game experience but played like the freshman he is.

Butler can go back to DBs coach. Or he can leave. We need a DC that plays physical at the LOS and I’d focus on one that can bring DL players and recruit. The Blackshirts have been dead for a long time. It is unacceptable.

We need DL, LB, and Edge players badly. You simply will never have a good defense with the inability to get to the QB. Our front 7 is a joke in the BIG.

We need upgrades everywhere, players and coaches.

Eck improved the special teams. Nice job.

I’m not sold on Barney. He runs timid and gets destroyed out there. If he is taking valuable NIL give it somewhere else.

Without EJ we have a losing record. He was awesome and I’ll be a lifelong fan.

Rhule needs to instill discipline and toughness. It’s not his schtick so he needs to bring in coaches that will do it. Look at what Iowa has done. Then look at Wisconsin. Iowa has embraced their identity and Wisconsin and us have gotten away from it. Build the lines or get left behind.

Osborne never won less than nine games. This scenario is comparable to Rhule going 9-2 every year but struggling to beat Ohio State.
