Post-Season Pressers

Kudos to Sipple for asking if the program is in a reset. Rhule had the easiest BIG schedule and still struggled. Next years schedule is brutal. Rhule did not like to be challenged.
I feel like that’s a no em question for Rhule. If he says yes it looks like he doesn’t have much faith in the guys there right now and if he says no then people cry BS

Rhule finally blamed Frost...Pretending like the program was so far behind while still staring dudes from Frosts team (I think, I could be wrong on that)

Here is the article. Sounds like we are lot further from his 3 year build than he known for. Also sounds like a guy who is unsure how to fix NU. And laying blame on crap from 3 years ago. And that's concerning. Two quotes below. And I wish he'd specifically name the "stuff".

“I understand people’s frustrations and things like that,” Rhule said. “But if anyone ever just understood what we walked into, they’d be amazed at what we’ve done behind the scenes.”

“I’ve had to do a lot of that stuff because someone else didn’t do it,” Rhule said. “I shouldn’t have had to do it. Some people take over programs; they don’t have to do that. We had to do a lot of stuff.”

What could this stuff be? Like he didn’t clean out his desk kind of stuff?

I mean if you're going to throw shade, swing for the fences. People know he's talking about Frost. What was so bad that you are still struggling with it. Might actually buy you some time from the admn and fans...

He arrived with NU in a huge mess. Not sure many coaches wanted to come here. Think about it, The last 21 games NU played, they went 5-16. Frost was fired during the season. OC Whipple wanted to quit. Interim HC MJ got fired for choking his wife and being arrested for assault. The defense gave up 45 to Georgia Southern, 49 to OU, 43 to Purdue (all losses), and got spanked by Michigan 34-3. While 4 of those 5 wins came against North Dakota, Rutgers by 1, Northwestern and Indiana (pre-Cignetti). NU was in a serious mess nationally. Now tell the new HC to go coach those returning players, knowing everything they saw and went through. But also, try to recruit studs to come play at a place that lost 16 of their lost 21 games. That is a huge rebuild if ever. And it also sucked in year one of the rebuild with 3 QBs - Sims, Haarberg and Purdy running the offense. Now they have back-to-back 7 win seasons and back-to-back bowl games being played around New Years Eve. Iowa is not the last game of the year anymore.

That is something that should not be stated heading into year 4. That's a huge red flag ladies and gentleman.

Indiana, I think, is the all time losingest P5 FB school.
They just beat Oregon and Ohio State and Michigan in the last 2 seasons.
During that time they used 2 transfer QBs, one of them won the Heisman.
They are the 1 seed in the playoffs.

That is a huge rebuild.

Right?
Again, ripping on the former staff is totally fine. BUT, don't still be playing their former players...THREE YEARS LATER.

And like you said, what is this "stuff"

"I mean, we found out that they were using 3 different cell phone plans" I remember that happening at a place I worked at, but I feel like that would not really impact the team.

Were the parking assignments a mess?

He acts like he had to deal with the season tickets...and the vendors.

You left out that Indiana was ranked #6 in 2020 going into their bowl game, just 3 years before Cignetti arrived. Even Sorsby went to Indiana for a year before transfering to Cincy. NU was never ranked #6 with Frost before Rhule.

I did not leave it out on purpose. I literally had no idea. It is Indiana.

But if you are arguing that Indiana was in a better spot than NU, well...

Why not? He didn't offer up the comments, he responded to the media person asking if moving forward will be a reset? Rhule said no and stood up for himself. Which is okay for a football coach to do so. And people should stand up for themselves when questioned like that (baited).
