I don't really understand this take to be honest with you. First off, I feel like you're painting us getting Raiola as some negative thing. I disagree with that.

And why would you want to roll with a QB who has almost no passing prowess if you could possibly get a better one out of the portal?

Now if we wind up with Chiles, this thing is screwed either way.

Agree we were sold on a drastic turnaround in 3 years. Instead he has the same record as Riley after 3 years despite having the advantage of NIL and the portal which he has no idea how to handle.

Yes we need QBs but as we just saw top QBs will not come to be backups. So get other pieces in place and spend top dollar on other pieces that will get their money and start, like the Iowa State OL and SDSU LB. I can’t understand why we can’t get a stud RB given we just had EJ perform phenomenally and the job is open for a stud RB to come in and probably be guaranteed to get no lower than the third highest amount of carries next year in the BIG.

Which is pretty much only doable with a collective bargaining agreement in place with the players, but the schools are trying hard to avoid that...

Thats the only thing thats going to give schools like nebraska a chance to stay competitive. If you dont have a billionaire or two backing your program now you dont stand a chance.
 
I’m pretty disappointed to hear that we didn’t land Minchey. I feel like he could have probably done more for our offense in 2026 than Raiola could have.

And I definitely think he’s better than Lateef, at least based on where they’re both at right now.

Damn.

No I’ve said it before that we had to put our eggs in with Raiola. That was what the program needed at the time. We had to do the same when we went all in with Frost. We somewhat did this with Wandale and AM too. We’re at the point now where we at least have dug out of some holes and got to winning records. I’m all for getting a stud QB but not sure that is happening when those QBs see they have to beat TJ. Maybe they can beat TJ but if you don’t have to, then they are going elsewhere as the guy to start. Meanwhile good OL and DL players are coming off the board. If our lines were better our QB play would be better.
