Dylan Raiola

Oregon fans seem pretty confident he will either red shirt or sit out next season. For a Dante Moore return or someone else.

It would not be shocking if he never plays for the Ducks and transfers out again next year.
That is probably a pretty good move for him from a long term development standpoint. If he does play next year, I think most teams will have blitz heavy strategies with man coverage. That's eventually what he will face in the NFL but having another year to prepare for it will probably help him handle it better.

Agreed. Others will blitz, but Oregon receivers create separation much better than our receivers have which will allow Dylan to carve them up.

I've seen a few criticize his ability to throw the deep ball, but can't agree with that. Deep passes only work if the receivers can get open and catch the ball. Neyor didn't win a ton of the 50/50 balls that he should have. Key, Barney, & Hunter are possession receivers focused on catching within 5-15 yards of the LOS. We severely missed Jaylen Lloyd's ability to take the top off the defense last year. If the only receivers we have on the roster are possession guys, the secondary compresses and our the QB is relegated to nothing deep downfield. Mix in a line that was sporadic and it's a rough combination.

There was some discussion in this thread in the past couple days over what mentality people had about his success/failure at his next stop.

What I don't think I saw get mentioned was that there's probably a subconscious desire by Husker fans to see him fail at his new school as a salve to our psyche to say "see, he sucks so it's good he left."

Different train of thought: it would be so ironic if his dad is telling him "you know I think your odds of getting to the NFL will go way up if you redshirt for 2026." The irony of that would just be so hilarious, with him clearly committing to us because Carson Beck changed his mind last-minute on coming back to Georgia for the 2024 season.

I will be interested to see how it goes there for him. I am of the mindset of "hate the game, not the player" in all this transfer and NIL nonsense. I also don't feel the need to hate on 20 years olds to cover up any subconscious fear that it was actually Nebraska that was the issue, and not a single player, which is what seems to be occurring in this thread.

I whiffed on this one. I just didn't see him as a fit for an Oregon QB (and still don't). Even a few weeks ago when the Oregon rumors started the local Ducks media were saying Oregon wasn't interested.

Good luck to the kid

I think it will be quite interesting to see how he performs surrounded by top notch talent and with different coaching.

Regardless, I wish him the best. I guess I'm just not filled with hatred that seems to be a common thread among most Husker fans.
I wish the kid the best. I think it's fair that husker fans feel burned tho. A legacy kid who was given it all at Nebraska who didn't have the decency to thank the coaching staff, university and fan base that poured two years into him!? That's some BS no matter how you slice it.

That Nebraska was the issue is not subconscious for our fanbase. I think they babyed him, and he was not allowed to grow. He will have to show up or get out at Oregon.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out with Moore.

Dylan brought a buzz and optimism to Nebraska that we really haven’t had since Frost was hired and that’s what I’ll remember him for. That CU game last year was electric and one of my favorite games I’ve attended. Best of luck at Oregon (drop the Mahomes cosplay).
Best home game environment since 2014 Miami IMO

He had plenty to work with at the skill positions.

And advanced metrics were not bad for the OL. DR made the line look worse that it was due to his pocket awareness and holding on to the ball.

Yeah, people keep throwing out words like 'abysmal" in order to blame our offensive line, but even less advanced metrics suggest the OL did a perfectly decent job in delivering our first All-American running back in decades and a 72% completion rate for a quarterback who statistically held the ball longer than most QBs.
