New ST Coach Mike Ekeler

You mean, Rhule doesn't walk on water and is worthy of valid criticism? Please don't tell the cult.
Valid criticism is due and given by most here. Obsessed doom and gloom posts multiple times a day, about the same things, is Dr Pepper commercial worthy stuff. At least wait until there is something new to panic about. The media will give it to you soon.

Thanks for self-identifying

As long as we create a "Rhule can do no wrong...I accept mediocrity thread" so I don't have to hear constant defending by the cult.
or...hear me out...what if we actually cheer for nebraska instead of the sky is falling constant doom and gloom? maybe things will work out, maybe they won't, but i will cheer for the huskers and hope for the best.

If you were in my house on Saturdays you would see I cheer for them. However, I am also a fan who remembers when Husker fans demanded excellence. When I see that I offer praise, and I was highly complimentary of the running game and special teams this past season. But excellence is ultimately about succeeding in all facets of the game and competing for championships. We are no closer to that level of excellence with Rhule than we were with Riley and Frost. Maybe I will be shocked in 2026 and Nebraska will suddenly be competitive for a championship, but there is nothing I have seen from Rhule in 3-plus years to suggest that will happen. What gives you confidence that we will see significant improvement in 2026?

i have been a fan long enough to have seen all 5 national titles. i remember husker fans calling for TO to be fired also. matt still has to prove he can win but when he got here we hadn't been to a bowl game in how long? and we have gone to 2 straight now. that is improvement. i want to see if the new coaches work out. i am really excited to see what the new o-line coach with the portal guys we got on the line can do. the new QB behind what i believe will be a better line has a chance to be exciting. defense i am really hoping the new coordinator can make some noise there. but wait...ek left so we are doomed!!!!

First off, I never said we were doomed because Eckeler left, but he was the best assistant on staff and special teams showed great improvement in 2025. It's more of a potential scenario of one step forward on offense with some of those additions and potentially another step backward. I just fear another dropoff in ST in 2026 just as we saw a dropoff in defense this past season after White left. I am most excited about Wade, the OL additions and the new QB. I am most concerned about the defense still as I don't believe we have added enough DL to be competitive in the BIG.

As for bringing up Tom Osborne, the dude never won less than 9 games in a season. Many fans now would be excited if Rhule can get to 8 wins one time in 4 seasons. That is my point about how many fans have settled for mediocrity. If Rhule had 9-plus wins the past 3 seasons you would not see so many critical of Rhule.

You got to want to be here. Don't let the door hit neither of you in the a$$!

It might be worth discussing why people don't want to be here though, right? And the name at the very top of the list for me is Tony White. We really dropped off on defense after he left (for more than just personnel reasons, as confirmed by John Butler's hiring).

NGL, for all the hand-wringing over Ekeler, I'm way more worried about Aurich and Geep...

This is a good point. Especially Aurich. He's got the toughest task ahead of him by far and if he makes big strides, it boosts our win total significantly next season.

I agree about wondering why some of the best assistants are wanting to leave. It does not sound like its strictly due to money.
