20 lb. playbook?

So, since Callahan is gone, how complicated do you guys think the offense will remain? Will Watson keep the 20 pound playbook or will he simplify it so that incoming freshman can pick it up right away and contribue their talents immediately?

I was so sick of not seeing players play until their junior or senior years all because it took them that long to learn the offense. There's no reason for the offense to be something that would take NASA a few months to decipher. I'm hoping that Watson can find a good middle ground that is easy to learn but still effective on the field.

I thought in an interview that Pelini said he wanted to simplify everything for the players and get back to fundamentals and having fun.

Did he say that?? That's awesome if he did, I don't recall ever hearing that, but if he did, good thing because I think the offense could've worked even if it was 80 times simpler.

if watson is smart he throws out half the damn book and half the shifts and let's the line and backs concentrate on execution.

i was so sick of cally's f'ing shifts i could scream. he only fooled our own guys and no one else.

Every time I hear "20 lb playbook" I laugh.

We hardly shifted AT ALL this year compared to previous years.

You laugh? Why? We've all heard from players about the playbook Callahan brought in, it's huge. Like an encyclopedia. I was using it more as a way to describe the intricacy of the type of offense we ran. It was too complicated and I hope it's dumbed down a little.

They'll probably keep all of it. Not that they'll USE it all, maybe only about 30% will be in the standard game plan. But they'll have the whole thing for when they want to add a new wrinkle.

Rememer the 1st half possession against OK St. in which we drove about 75 yards all the way down to the 5 with something like 12 straight running plays to Lucky and Castille? I'd love to see more of that (except for going 4 and out once we got to the 5).

Watson has got to get rid of the QB having to run to the sideline for every play. That was the most rediculously stupid way to get plays in that I've ever seen. Then continuing to do it for 4 long years.

Football's simple. When you have the ball you take it and go that way until they stop you or you score.

When they have the ball you take it back.

If it is a 20lb playbook, I hope its because they put a dumbbell on it. This team needs to get stronger, not have more plays.
