College football live

how long has Mark May been an analyst? six years at least? how does he still stumble over his words and talk like a bumbling idiot? i know i'd be a crappy tv guy, because i'd be nervous and stumbling with my words, but this isn't this guy's first rodeo. you'd think he'd be over it by now.

so obviously, he has an IQ below that of a stump.

Just got a new channel today on dishnetwork called "CBS C" that showed "College Football Live"?

Hilarious how they were giving Trev Alberts a hard time about being a homer for saying, "WE" when talking about the Huskers. :clap

Everyone seems to be in love with him this year. I noticed they are ranked #25. I don't care if their RB is the best in the country because Stache will still find a way to have a losing record. He's a complete tool. Past performance should be indicative of future results. He completely gutted two NFL teams. Why would he suddenly become this great HC when he's sucked at it for so long? His only claim to fame was being on Jimmy Johnson's staff during a great run.

Lou Holtz "Bo Pelini will NOT have problems on defense" :woo :woo :woo
Unfortunately, I disagree with that, at least if taken at face value. Pelini himself said the players are just now starting to get things down. I'm guessing they've got a long ways to go before they'll be at the stage of having no problems. But we won't be seeing a defense that just totally falls apart, either. So if he meant that, it's another thing, but that's not my definition of no problems.
I agree with you that we wont see them fall apart. I also bet we wont see defensive players giving half hearted efforts, and making feeble attempts to push opposing players out of bounds, failing to do so, and the opposing player go on to score and get to keep playing!!!!
It does take time to undo bad habits and/or bad coaching. We'll find out in a couple days how that is progressing.

For some reason, the season pass for College Football Live on my Tivo skipped the 4 hour special, but recorded the edited down 2 hour replay version in the middle of the night. Naturally, all of the Nebraska stuff was cut from the shorter version except at the end when Holtz said that Nebraska could surprise people. :bang

Why are you such a downer??

I'm still skeptical about ESPN. So they all of a sudden like Nebraska? Could it be because their main college football analyst (Herbstreit) is buds with Pelini? I feel like they are shoveling out all of their accolades based on that fact rather than them knowing anything about football. They hated Nebraska last year. It's the same team, different coach and now they love Nebraska this year. Coaching makes a difference but for ESPN to do a complete 180 since a coaching change was made does not make much sense. For me I still think they all suck and I will not pay any attention to them. And it's even funnier how all the people gushing over the coverage ESPN is giving Nebraska were the same people who b*tched and moaned when they got bad/no coverage. They hated ESPN last year and now everyone loves ESPN because they are saying good things? The mob is fickle.

It always amuses me when realism is mistaken for being a downer.

It amuses me how everyone hated Holtz's Opinions and called him and idiot for I don't know how long and now when he says something good about Nebraska he knows what he's talking about. I think the Big-Red Kool-aid is being drank again... :koolaid2:

I agree with you, it isn't being a downer, it's a realist. I've found in my life that if you stay even-keel and not get so psyched up and ramp up your expectations then you have much less chance to have a big let down. If I expect 6-6 or 7-5 this season then I am ok with that record if it happens, but I'm called a downer before the season begins. Then if they exceed the expectation I can be happy and estatic about it. But if someone predicts 9-3 and the team goes 6-6 they get pissed off. I'd rather be in the group that isn't completely let down and realize that expectations need to be somewhat lower with a new coach on a team that performed badly last year. I'm not a downer I just know what happened last year and first year coaches that make huge turn arounds in a year are very rare, especially first year coaches who have never been a head-coach before. And people who stay even-keel with realistic expectations tend to be the patient ones that don't jump of the bandwagon and call for coaches heads after 2-3 years...

Holtz is pretty strange. Sometimes I think he's right on, and other times he goes off half-crazy and babbles nonsense. I have always found myself agreeing with about half of what he says, and then almost immediately wondering what type of drug he's been taking when he moves on to the next topic.

I'll really be annoyed when Mark May says something good about Nebraska and people start dropping to their knees in front of him too...

To be honest, I've never had a huge problem with May. I definitely don't always agree with him, but he doesn't bother me like he does so many others here.
