What does everyone like to read?

I love reading and collecting books, so thought I'd see what everyone else likes to thumb through when they get a chance. I read mostly fiction and science fiction, but do branch out to autos, bios and history based on how the book is written.

Most read and always bought authors:

Paul Sussman (great british author and archaeologist...hard to get his hardcovers!)

Brad Meltzer (definate page-turners)

David Baldacci (love his Camel Club series and a great NOVA representative!)

Steve Berry (a great author...on-line with Dan Brown)

Dan Brown (pretty sure everyone has heard of him...)

Tim Green (have a few of his books to read once I finish this current phase of school)

Raymond Khoury (newer author, but a good one...he's only headed up to the top in skill)

John Grisham (just picked up The Associate...I like his earlier books better)

Tom Clancy (feel bad about his health issues and wish he hadn't stopped writing!)

Dean Koontz (pick and choose when it comes to him, but he's always is good for a great read)

Terry Brooks (read his stuff since I was way young...great science fiction author)

Tad Williams (another sci-fi author...in-depth books that are worth the time reading)

I pick and choose from a few others like Kate Mosse and 'ol Stephen King, but do peruse the local stores and the "internets" for a good deal! I'm always up for checking out a new author, so if you have someone that you like, lemme know!!

EDIT: Also, what was the last book you read? Mine was Divine Justice by David Baldacci.

I will read literally any book you place in my hands . . . I have a soft spot for Shakespeare and Star Wars.

I also highly recommend a book called Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. A friend told me about it a few years ago, and every person I've told about this book so far has picked it up and loved it.

 
In the past four years I have read 4 books out of school:

Friday Night Lights

Hero Of the Underground

Diary of a Husker

More Than Winning

Out of the four Hero of the Underground was by far the best and got me jacked up.

Books I liked for school were:

Tom Sawyer

Lord of the Flies

As you can tell, I am not much of a reader, but I have attempted to, but my ADD makes it hard.

But for around ten I recommend the Chip Hilton series by Coach Clair Bee, I used to love those as a kid.

 
The Berenstain Bears.

Ok, actually I'm not much of a reader. Just read Sports Illustrated and ESPN The Magazine... and the sports section of the paper.

Last book I did read though was Hero of the Underground

:yeah I am a ESPN the Magazine, SI, and Berenstain bears type of reader.

I had to read the Lord of the Flies this year for school and hated it

 
I have a small library. Most of it falls into the sci-fi/fantasy genre. A few of my favorites:

Patrick Rothfuss - The Name of the Wind (his first book, and just wow)

Robin Hobb - Farseer Trilogy, The Tawny Man Trilogy among others. If you can't handle a hero getting brutalized, not for you.

Terry Goodkind - The Sword of Truth series

Glen Cook - The Black Company

Jim Butcher - The Dresden Files(fast mving and funny as hell)

Neil Gaiman - Stardust, American Gods, Neverwhere (no series, all stand alones, I highly recommend these, even if fantasy usually isnt your thing.

I am currently reading The Books of the South by Glen Cook. I always have a book going, to me they can be much better entertainment than most tv or movies. Much better by the dollar for sure.

 
Currently reading "How Football Explains America" by Sal Palantonio. If you love football and I assume we all do it is a must read.

I'm a not book reader as much as I am a news paper reader. Daily I read:

The Omaha World Herald

Washington Post

NY Times

Wall Street Journal

From a publication standpoint I read:

The Economist

Outdoor Life

The last book I read is Blink. It's a great book that really should be read by everybody. The main reason why I wanted to read it is to see how accurate it is. It's pretty dead on accurate.

In college I went through a Louis L'Amour phase and read about 60 of his books. Then he died and they continued to put books out in his name. Fraud!!

A few years ago I got into the Alex Cross series by James Patterson. But I haven't yet read the last couple in that series.

I get the Dr Seuss and Disney books for my girls so those now tend to be most read books. But I do read the Omaha World Herald and Kansas City Star a few times a week online.

I too am a newspaper enthusiast. I read the World-Herald, the USA Today, and the New York Times Daily.

How is that series? My brother read them and said he didn't like them, so I've held of on reading them. Have you read Tad Williams? It's a longer read, but his Memory, Sorrow and Thorn trilogy was really good.

I like the articles in the Economist...don't always agree, but they offer a good perspective on many issues. I subscribe to that and Foreign Policy...dunno if you've checked that out, but it's pretty good too.

Ditto about your comment about agreeing with articles in the Eonomist. Foreign Policy is not one that I read. I may have to give one that a go.
