Cody Green's brilliant call

Show me one post in this thread that indicates calling for Lee's job. Everyone up to this point just exclaimed some excitement about the development and possible future for this young man and that they were hoping to see him get Mop Up duty in the first game so we could see him in action. Settle down hero.

Cody Green's brilliant call, yeah, I think he'll be starting before long

Thanks for calling me hero though. :thumbs :moreinteresting

Well considering the bi-line to this thread is "yeah, I think he'll be starting before long", then I'd say there was more than a hint of that sentiment.
My apologies, I didn't catch that in the title. However, other than the OP I don't see a whole lot of sentiment for Green to start, at least in this thread. Your response seems really over the top reactionary considering the other posts in here don't even make that claim other than the OP.

If newearth hadn't posted it, I probably would have sooner or later. He's not alone in his lack of enthusiasm for hearing yet another "Let Green start" rant. The backup quarterback is always the most popular player, isn't that how it goes?

Stuff like this is the gateway drug of "put in the backup" conversations. First it's talk about the backup making a good call - that's how it starts. Just one sentence, what could it hurt? You take part in that conversation for a week or two until the idea becomes more comfortable as your tolerance builds. After that you're openly considering the idea - there's no need to hide your interest in the backup, so why try? Next thing you know, the starter just isn't getting you there anymore, and suddenly you're doing lines of threads on how horrible your starter is off the tail end of some trashy hooker, and it goes on and on until one day you wake up in the gutter, a strung out wreck after the starter gets benched and your backup wonderboy stinks up the joint a la Beau Davis.

Nipping that in the bud before it gets going too much is just a public service. Really.

My bet is that after Lee throws his first INT or errant pass no matter what game it's in we hear chants of Green, Green, Green!
That's because we're all better coaches than those paid coaches. We just have more important things to do with our time, so we can't coach I-A. :cowbell:

You all need to take some drugs to calm down or something.

Cody Green sounds like he's got promise and is making headway fast. But Lee is the clear starter by all accounts, if memory serves, so I don't see Green claiming the starting spot.

Lets just be happy that there is some talent and depth at the qb spot. I really look for Lee to have a great 2 years. I'm doubting a redshirt for Green because of the need to get a backup ready and the lack of anyone close to being able to. Basically every qb other than Lee could use a red shirt year and Watson is going to have to pick one. You can't expect Lee to take every snap if the game is already decided. You can't risk the injury. I'm hoping for a little more than mop up duty with Geen playing some snaps with the 1's in the first half. If Witt or Spano were still available then Green could have seen a redshirt. But not now. Just my 2 cents. Later

Wasn’t there a situation a couple years ago with another early enrolling :star :star :star :star quarterback and a JUCO guy named Zac? <_<

I'm going to be a little pi$$ed if Green burns his shirt for similar playing time to what Witt and Lee got last year.
Definitely. If they're going to play him, by gum then PLAY him.

I know Bo is going to make mistakes as a first-year head coach, and maybe it's really different down in the trenches during game time. There's a lot going on, that's for certain. But even with all that, Witt and/or Lee should have played MUCH more than they did last year.

What if LTravWash redshirts this year, and Green redshirts next year?
If I was Green I would be pissed.
Why? This wouldn't be the first time such a thing has happened.
If he is good enough to be at least the #2 this year and they didn't RS, why would he be happy that they don't let him compete and earn the playing time next season? Besides it is about winning games, Cody gives the best shot to win if, knocks on wood, Lee goes down. If that holds true next season then why would the coaches take away what gives them the best chance to win?
