Favorite "home grown" Huskers

Bobby Reynolds, Grand Island

Pat Fischer, born in St. Edward, but I think he went to Westside

Mick Tingelhoff and Monte Kiffin from Lexington

Jeff Kinney, Oxford Nebraska and McCook High School

Jim Skow from the Keystone neighborhood in Omaha, by way of Rummel/Roncalli

Jay Moore from Elkhorn

Russ Hochstein Hartington Ceder Catholic

Dean Steinkuhler the Burr oak, played at Sterling

George Andrews from Burke

Some of these guys are old school. I played football with Jim Skow and coached Jay Moore

Born in North Platte (Dickens, actually) raised in Kimball...graduated from Poudre High in Ft Collins, and my father...Brad Jenkins, #92, Big XIII Champion and 3 yr Letterman. LOL...he counts, he's homegrown, eh?

Besides that, I've always loved Ahman Green. Can you imagine how long he caught "option pitches" growing up? Since birth maybe? Then he goes to his homestate school and is now the leading rusher of all time for the Green Bay Packers!

Tom Rathman

Johnny Rogers

anyone who ever walked on and stuck it out.

Ken Clark!

Graduated from Bryan and was the most

dominate RB in the state his Junior and

Senior years.

I beliebe he was born in Georgia but I know

he attended Bryan his Freshman through

Senior years.

If my memory recall is correct, I do believe

he had a respectable career at Nebraska.

I’m not from Nebraska so my “Home Grown” favorites are the two guys that played for NU from my hometown in Southwest Iowa.

Todd Millikan

Van Brownson

One of my Favourite Uncles lived in Poudre and was the postmaster in Ft. Collins..My fav. childhood vacations usually ended up at Buell and Claribell's cabin next to the Poudre River.

It was the last time I caught any Rainbow Trout.
