It wasn't a quote, it was a paraphrase. You quote exact words. You paraphrase intent. And you can assume all you want, won't change a thing.

Look i know some people see T-Mart as potentially bringing back the option to Nebraska, much like last year when we were talking about Cody Green or after we saw him have that big zone-read run against FAU and ULL.

I want a QB to start for the Huskers who can pass the ball, run the ball and pick the correct times to do so accordingly. But i hope most of you know, Spring game doesn't decide who is going to start in the fall or even hints at the backup. Most of us thought that Zac Lee would start with Latravis as backup after the spring, but when fall camp was over it was Zac Lee starting with Cody Green backing up.

This year? Who knows.

I dunno, maybe i'm just being pesamistic right now but Green will be lucky to see the field at Nebraska again, maybe i'm wrong...who knows its just an opinion based off of comments i've gathered from multiple different people.

Do any of you recruitniks know who was after Scott Frost, Joe Ganz, Tommie Frazier, and/or Eric Crouch?

with all due respect, those QB's were also recruited for a COMPLETELY different style of offense, with the exception of Joe Ganz. As much as Joe Ganz helped Nebraska ease its way back a little bit before the defense really got good. I wouldn't put anywhere near the group or quality of QB as those guys. I loved Ganz I'm glad we had him, but c'mon guys...seriously, think a little.

Ok..I have a couple of comments and or questions about the list of schools he was offered.

First, have you heard of Jerrod Johnson? The dual threat QB from Texas A&M? Apparently they felt Cody Green could fill the same role in that offense some day. So, for starters, that doesn't make sense.

Second, when you say "doesn't (I assume thats what you meant) make sense cause he can't pass", what does that even mean? Obviously Texas Tech saw something in him because he was recruited by Mike Leach. Mike Leach may be crazy, but he knows more about quarterbacks than you or I do. I'd say he saw something there. And in relation to this, what are you basing your opinion of Cody Green off of? 62 passes from an 17-18 year old in one of the toughest college football conferences? 62 passes from a kid who played behind an obliterated o-line with few receiving threats and an at-times anemic running game? That means you must also be factoring in what you've heard from people at practices, people who only went to one of fifteen practices and are giving their opinions/thoughts.

I'm not trying to be rude, but let's think this one out a bit. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is your argument: CG stinks because he wasn't offered by some of the better schools, his passing sucks even though he threw the ball only 62 times all year, and I know he sucks because a couple of anonymous people went to ONE practice and told me he sucked.

I'm not advocating for Cody Green, nor am I saying I disagree with you in the sense that his passing was less than formidable last year, but you are writing a kid off for reasons that are not substantiated.

Lastly, do you have any proof to back up your claim that rivals accepts money from kids to boost their star ratings? If you do, I'd like to see it. Otherwise, that's a heavy rumor.

The list of college quarterbacks who weren't accomplished passers, yet who were still successful, is quite long. Again, I don't care if Green can't pass - if he can run the Zone Read, we'll kill people with a decent O Line and Green/Burkhead.

The guys on Unsportsmanlike Conduct are of the opinion that Zac Lee won't be the starter this year. And they have information from guys who attend the practices. I disagree.

I'm of the opinion that Lee is the starter, with Martinez as #2 getting a few specialty reps, just speculation.

I really don't care who is the starter, I just want the best guy to start.

3) Green can't throw the ball a lick. I can't recall how many passes were picked off, or were very very close to being picked, or sailed over the heads of everyone. If my girlfriend were as late as he is with the football, I'd start working a second job.

You and I have the same feeling, I said in an earlier post that whoever didnt win the #2 position, that they would end up changing positions or transfering. Lee at #1 and TMart having the momentum of a great spring and with Turner supposedly coming in next year. I think it is probable the Cody Green experiment maybe over with by this time next year.

Because they are different people with different skill sets.

An astute observation if we actually knew what those skills were, but at this point the only person we know anything about with any certainty is Zac Lee, and even with him we have to temper our analysis to whatever extent we attribute his reported injury to his performance. We know next to nothing about Cody Green and even less about Kody Spano, LaTravis Washington, Taylor Martinez, et al, which makes advocacy for any of them irrelevant.

Isn't it the offseason? Can't we speculate/discuss/obsess even with the most anticipated position battle?

You're 100% right that we don't know a thing about these guys but that doesn't mean we shouldn't talk about them. Watson and company have said how fast Taylor is, we at least got to Green play last year (so we can wonder if he has improved), and Spano, Washington are wild cards.

I completely understand your initial post, the name doesn't matter much. But speculating what name will be the "general of the offense" and their respective skills sets is basically priority number 1 every offseason.

Who said we couldn't speculate? I find the advocacy of one guy over another, and the subsequent throwing of "the other guy" under the bus, a little weird. They're all Huskers, so some of these Green vs. Lee discussions seem like we're discussing a QB for another team.

It's the coaches that need to know their skill sets. We do however know a decent amount about Cody Green since we've watched him in a few games and his passing and consistency are lacking. I agree that we shouldn't favor one over the other, that we should favor whoever earns the starting spot under the assumption that the coaches have found him to be the best choice. But there's nothing wrong about being excited about seeing, let's say, Martinez, because we've heard good things about him in practice. Just because we know little about him doesn't make his advocacy irrelevant.

the people that are saying that martinez has looked better in practice are saying so because EVERY PRACTICE REPORT THAT HAS BEEN POSTED ON ANY SITE HAS SAID THAT MARTINEZ IS THE BETTER QB!!! these have mostly been high school coaches etc that are saying that! it doesnt matter who was recruited by who or how highly they were ranked (nether were all that high really.), it matters who is the better player for our offense. i know that i have read practice reports from 3+ different days and each one of them said that Martinez has been the best qb in spring ball. frankly if that is the case that he has had 3+ "off days" out of roughly 10 practices then he is not the Qb of the future because there is a very good chance that he would blow more than 1 game.

simply put: if green could learn to throw with ANY consistency he would be a prototypical qb and he would definitely be the starter come fall but as of now, he has not done what is necessary to become a good qb. his age is only as excuse, last season we didnt exactly run a complex WCO so its not like he had to or has to learn a lot to be successful.

The best guy will win the backup or hell maybe even the starting job, according to my former high school coach as well as ALL of the reports coming out of practices so far it has been Taylor Martinez in the lead with Cody Green a relatively distant second.

bottom line: we will see for ourselves in just 3 days.

OK, I hate to be a stickler, but I haven't seen any official practice reports that have said Martinez is "the best qb". I've seen reports praising his ability, but no coach would admit that one player was ahead of the other right now, especially in the quarterback race. Player accounts and people who have been to practices are different. But I haven't seen any reports from LJS, OWH, or HI that say Martinez is the best.
