What we learned today

walksalone

Heisman Trophy Winner
Burkhead, effective from the wildcat

Our QB situation, needs to be rectified

The "D", a bit Jekyll & Hyde at times

Rhoads has "marbles"

Rhoads is a solid coach....a players coach. Iowa St. is lucky to have a coach like Rhoads....we played like a$$ today...PERIOD!

Maybe I'm the only one who thinks so, but I think Rhoads played foolishly with the 2-point attempt. ISU had the momentum, and NU couldn't throw the ball. I think Rhoads should have challenged NU to keep up with his offense in OT. And choosing a punter to throw into that wind against our secondary is not a smart play-call IMO.

Burkhead is reliable as hell.

Helu is an exciting back, but will put the ball on the carpet from time to time.

Paul cannot be trusted to return any kicks or punts, and should be looked at skeptically on offense in general.

Green is an okay game manager, but will never be a star QB at Nebraska.

Gomes whiffs on tackles.

What did we learn today?

1. Cody Green is a heck of an athlete but not QB material.

2. Niles Paul won't protect the ball and should never return another kickoff or punt.

3. Watson can't coach an offense.

4. We can't get consistent pressure on the QB without blitzing.

5. If we won't (or can't) pass on first down against a stacked defense, we will probably lose.

Did I miss anything?

I agree with you. Rhodes takes a knee to send into overtime then risks the game, when it was only his too lose, on this kind of play. Unless he feels his team has played out of their minds all game and is sure that his team cannot sustain an offense shootout. Not, not smart IMO.

Also, I think I finally admit that we are not the team that everyone thinks/or wants us to be.

3. Watson can't coach an offense.
Really? He coached a hell of a game last week, but can't coach this week. Even though he's only got the 3rd string QB and there's a 30 MPH wind out there.

blah blah blah

Watson caught Mizzou in some bad defensive schemes early, then was held to 7 points the rest of the game.

Hardly a "hell of a game" if you ask me.

Without our defense forced turnovers, we'd have lost by 3 TDs today.

Watson's had 3 years to develop Green. Look what it's produced.

Didn't you also want to mention Watson had the sun in his eyes as another lame excuse?

here is what i learned. NU is not yet mnc worthy, so the texas loss really does not matter. we have a third year coach who still has a lot to learn and an inconsistent team with a lot of potential. oh, and always be happy with a win.

Three years to develop Green? Cody hasn't been in the system that long. He's a good athlete but he still has to do a lot of maturing.

I don't believe Green will ever "mature" into a good QB.

He should have been switched to another position long before now.

Green's a good athlete and a team player. He should be given a chance to

play and succeed in some other spot.
