Simply put, we know that our expectations for the offense aren't very high at all. If we avg over 20pts a game, I think the majority of the board would sign up for that.

Yes, because people were dogging on our departed offensive coaches because of our scoring average. Had nothing to do with the fact that we failed to score an offensive touchdown against Texas or A&M, or only one against Washington, or two against Kansas.

Or zero against Texas, or zero in the 2nd half of the CCG agianst OU, zero against VA Tech, zero against Texas in the 2009 CCG, one against ISU in 2009.

I think we will have a good idea of where we are after the Wisconsin game. I would bet that is the main game on their minds right now. The whole B1G will be watching, and the nation for that matter. As to the offense having more, honestly do we real expect a whole lot of difference in year one. We will still have problems, so I do not expect much from them. Winning games will be on the defense again this year.

Average isn't even in the equation. You have to take each individual game on its own merits. And A&M doesn't qualify as a tougher team. They only held two teams to single-digits all year, and one of them was a D2 school.

I'm not real concerned about defending the run just yet because what we saw last year was how the defense was built. Shutdown the spread offense and force teams to grind out drives on the ground and it was mostly successful. Bo and Carl are going to have to change their philosophy some this year and we will probably see a lot more 3 LB packages.

This. Consider last year, but especially the year before when we won the Sun Belt. High 30s, 40s, and 50 point games against JV teams work into the mean scoring average just as much as eggs against UT.

The defense will have to make adjustments and replace some guys, absolutely. I just don't see how, after 2 years of ripping on an offense not showing up and 2 years of relying on a defense, you can possibly say the D would have more to prove...

Also, your point about the defense facing all new offenses: correct me if I'm wrong but the bad offense of last year will be facing all new defenses this year

idk if we really need to bulk up that much, i mean TCU shut down wisconsins running game and they cant be that much bigger up front then us, idk just guessing on that, but if we dont bulk up some we will need to be deep at the DL and LB positions because of injuries and just the wear and tear of the long season.

The difference being, Wisconsin overlooked TCU as a team that didn't deserve to be there and was going to be a cakewalk. They aren't going to approach Nebraska the same way. Just like Nebraska won't approach the Wisconsin game with the same attitude they took into their bowl game. Both teams went into it expecting an easy win and both got %^&*slapped.

Quite possible. It's the same reasoning behind the Holiday Bowl. We had zero wish to be there. Washington was WAY more motivated, and it showed. Painfully.

Wisconsin got shut down because they went away from the run, late in the game they went back to it and blew TCU off the ball.

We know we can not depend on the O. Unless all go unscathed through the year. Doubtfull. We know we have to depend on the D to get the job done. If they can not do their job, we have real problems.

Heh.....yep, we lit up three Sun Belt teams like a Christmas tree and still finished 99th in total offense. Oh boy, "not" good.
