I think the safe pick here has got to be Aaron Green, and that's not based on physical skills/football talent, it's based on what we know about the guy and how hard of a worker we can expect. The others, are more unknown at this point through no fault of their own (not as much recruiting attention).

I know what you were talking about. But one of the main wrinkles of that 1997 Nebraska offense was the flexbone, or wingbone, or double-wing, as I think we called it. It wasn't our base offense, but we used it a lot. Ahman Green was the "FB", and Shevin Wiggins/Bobby Newcombe the WBs. If you watch that Tennessee video (and part 2), you'll see the flexbone (or whatever you want to call it) used throughout the game with a lot of success.

Green was widely regarded as the #2 RB in Texas' top football division, though. That is a proving ground that Heard cannot boast, no matter his Rivals ranking, nor can AA no matter the fact that he played in Alabama's top division.

But the reality is, no matter the hype surrounding Green, no matter Heard's ranking, no matter how great any of them look on film, they still have to do it at this level. All three of them could bust out, or all three could be stars.
Certainly the point of recruiting services is to project each player's future potential at the next level. The hype portion of those services is part of the engine that drives subscriptions among other things. I'm not saying recruiting service-driven hype is a bad thing, but I've said it numerous times in the recruiting section that scouting isn't an exact science. It's too hit-and-miss across the board.

We could approach it from different angles trying to justify why Recruit A is better than Recruit B and vice-versa. It's also telling that evaluation discrepancies (major & minor) exist between the various recruiting services. The joke behind that is if Rivals ranks our player higher than Scout, ESPN and 247, then Rivals is awesome. However, I can tell you I've thought all four recruiting services were "awesome" at one time or another if it benefited our player and team to a higher ranking. :)

Furthermore, I can't pretend to know the finer details of evaluating Braylon, Aaron and Ameer's strengths and weaknesses against each other since it's out of my area of expertise. I'm definitely not a scout so whatever opinion I might share on the subject carries very little weight in the grand scheme of things and I'm okay with that. I know which lane I belong in and I'm content to stay in it. ;)

Having said all that, we both agree that they haven't proven themselves at the next level yet to warrant a fair critique at this point, high school films be damned. I have no dog in this fight because I'm rooting for all three of them. Until they arrive and learn the system together, someone will eventually emerge as #2 behind Rex. It'll be fun to follow once fall ball begins.

A.A. looks awesome, 3:00 nice away speed right there. But we can't say who's really the best now. See how they develop.

Maybe the fact that we have 3 potentially really good prospects will dilute some of the expectations that might otherwise be dumped on one running back's shoulders.

Here's what I want to see . . . which will never happen . . . and probably for good reasons.

I want to see a flexbone formation with Martinez under center, Burkhead as the fullback, and 2 out of Abdullah/Green/Heard lined up as slotbacks.

My goodness I love the triple option.

I was QB in high school and this is the offense we ran. Worst offense ever if you have speed! Its for little kids and teams like Navy.
I'm comfortable in saying that this comment shows that you have much to learn about football . . . extensive high school experience notwithstanding.

"Worst offense ever if you have speed?!" Wow.

You can start the learning here. Continue by delving into one of my favorite examples here. Finally, educate yourself here.

Ah, ignorance.

I'd explain why you are wrong but from two posts in this thread I can already see that it would be beyond your comprehension.

Have a nice night.

Braylon has been working out with a personal trainer. If he can get here in June I think he will be good to go by September.

I love what we have in the backfield this year fellas. We have fierce competition at RB, QB, and WR. We also seem to have a staff that is more like-minded than the previous one.

I don't think the Big Ten is ready for the athletes and the team that we are about to unleash. I don't.

Cameron Meredith confirmed on Twitter today that Heard would be here for summer workouts.

In other news, Heard and Green have struck up a convo on Twitter and are excited about playing together this fall.

Green will have the best career out of the three listed above. That doesn't mean the other two won't have productive careers, thought its hard to say, there is always the next best thing the year after. But they all have potential to have sucessful careers playing for the Huskers, its just that Green will have a more productive one that Abdullah and Heard.

Conventional Huskers knowledge says that the five star Green (Marlon Lucky) will be good but underwhelm. The three-star from out of nowhere, Abdullah (Helu), will have huge success and be a fan favorite.

Very very good point, lol. Except Lucky and Helu were brought in under Callahan. It could be different under Bo.

Did I see a Legate around the 4:46 mark? Relation to Tyler?

edit: Answered my own question. It was Billy Legate, a cousin of Tyler.

By stating that I ran the offense for 4 years didn't mean that I was Montana or Vick. Just saying if you have SPEED it wasn't a good offense to run. For speed you want to SPREAD teams out and get your playmakers in space. The double wing everyone is bunched together. Don't say yeah I would post something, but you wouldn't get it like you are more educated at football than I am. Get serious
