Hercules, whatever it was, it was pretty distinct from the other options we had run laterally, wouldn't you agree? The zone read element where we can draw a DL off of Taylor and onto the RB, and watch him take off into open space, has been deadly - this year and last.

It was different from a speed option, but it's not that much different from some of the old-school triple option we've run out of the I formation. It's just that instead of the first option being the fullback up the gut, the first option is a zone read where Martinez read the defensive end. But then after keeping it, he went outside and Turner was the pitchman for the lateral option. I think we'll see more of that as the year goes on then the old-school triple option, just because having that much speed on the field will be dangerous.
