When he committed to Nebraska, Stafford had no idea of the success the Huskers have had with juco players under Bo Pelini. But he learned quick enough about the impact of guys like David, DeJon Gomes, Yoshi Hardrick and Kinnie.After he committed, he began studying the way coaches used Gomes in particular.

"I was like, 'Yeah, that could be me when he was gone,'" Stafford said. "That really inspired me."

It would be interesting to see what role they decide for him to play. He could be really impressive like Hagg and Gomes if they go that route. Besides "the hit" he had two other great tackles and could help set the tone in future games they way he brings the sledgehammer!!

 
I think we're going to see Stafford in the Gomes role and Austin Cassidy in the Hagg role with Courtney Osborne at SS and either PJ Smith or Corey Cooper at FS all on the field this year against several teams.

 
This kid will be better than Gomes IMO. He's suited way better than Gomes at stopping the run. I want to see Cooper get some more PT as well.

That remains to be seen. Gomes was a ball hawk. Sure, Stafford can hit. I want to see what he can do in coverage situations.
