Choi not starting? Really?

They will still rotate bodies in along the front lines, you will see Choi and Moore Saturday night.

My biggest hope is the light really turns on for A-Rod and he legitimately starts playing better than Seoul Train. That's the kind of depth and competition we've been missing on the offensive line for over a decade.

 
Choi look really solid for us.. i dont know why he wouldnt start?? why change something that seemed to producing a better product then what we had seen in the past?? this is the kind of little things that make me ponder BArney just a little bit (well a lot actually)

 
A-Rod left the lineup due to injury IIRC, and I thought the coaches made it a point to say you wouldn't lose your spot due to injury.

Plus, there's nothing to prevent Beck to sub Choi in after the first series, after we see if ARod is up to snuff.

I think that was the stated reason he left the lineup.

Did the coaches ever say that? Seems somewhat doubtful...

I always hear that every position is a competition from our head coach.

 
I think Osborne may have said something like that once, but no coach would make that a hard and fast rule. Nate Mason was starting QB when he went down for the season in 1981. Turner Gill took over a couple games later, and there was no doubt that he was going to stay #1 when Mason came back. If somebody comes in and plays at a higher level than the injured player had been, they are going to continue to start. I like what I've seen in Choi, but I don't coach and evaluate players for a living.

 
I think this is a non-issue. I'd bet Choi and ARod get about 50/50 snaps. Does it really matter which one is out there first? If ARod doesn't play as well as Choi and gets more than 50% of the snaps, then we can talk about that. But let's wait and see what happens first. Same thing for Moore/Marcel.

It will matter if Arod gets blown up in the first series and directly causes Tmart to get injured or worse turn the ball over.

Alex Rodriguez is a better pass blocker than Choi. I think it is a clue to NU's early game plan -- establishing the passing game.

 
i wonder if choi satring over a-rod has woke a-rod up. I mean you seem that from time to time, when a started gets pulled due to poor perfromance that started pulls his head out and starts working alot harder in practice to improve himself to take said starting position back
