I responded to your points. If you want to act like that's "jumping down your throat" I would humbly submit that your constitution may not be suited to the rigors of a very tame internet message board conversation. If you're going to take part in the conversation, then be prepared to have your statements discussed without complaining about it.

I'm not butt hurt, but I've seen enough of your 16,000+ posts to know that arguing with you is like arguing with a brick wall. You refuse to see the other side and you're never wrong. As evidenced by your failure to respond to the rest of my post that you have selectively quoted above.

I'm trying to talk football. You ignored the rest of my post in favor of talking about the nuances of internet message boards and feelings. So why don't you heed your own advice?

Read my post. Completely football related. Taylor doesn't run like Crouch (in response to another post saying that he was similar). Did I say I was pissed or that Taylor sucks because he can't run like Crouch? Nope, just pointing out that he's not Crouch with the ball in his hands.

Watch some tape and its pretty obvious Crouch and Taylor are nothing alike when they run the ball. That was my point. Plain and simple. I wasn't using Crouch as a benchmark, a previous poster did that.

They're extremely similar in that their overwhelming asset on the field for "both" wasn't their 40 or 100 yd dash time, jukes, passing prowess, qb reads, toughness, etc, etc.....it was their insane gap speed (5 to 10 yds).

"Both" had/have acceleration on the football field in full pads that almost nobody else has. It completely wrecks defenders angles of pursuit resulting in so many big plays they both were/are famous for. Opposing DC's are rightfully terrified of that threat and attempt to marginalize that threat at almost any cost. That results in opening up opportunities for our other skill players that of course our hater fans are and will always be completely oblivious to. But Bo isn't. Or Beck.

Yeah, Crouch was a tougher runner. But with a "very" few exceptions Crouch wasn't running over people every play as some suggest. Not at all. Tmart (just half way through his soph year) is already better pitching the ball and arguably better passing. Or at the very least by Crouch's mid soph season (go watch some NU game films of 1999).

They're "both" are/were great offensive weapons for reasons that the typical dim-witted hater could never comprehend. But again, Bo & Beck do. So did Frank.

Yes, there is. Burkhead is a good runner of the football. Kenny Bell is fast. Used properly, both can not only be effective, but make important contributions to the team.

It's funny that Crouch is used as a benchmark for Martinez. Crouch was Martinez when Martinez was still in third grade. Crouch was a superlative talent with public relations problems. He had awkward relations with his teammates, he had a weak passing game, but with the ball in his hand he could score from any point in the field.

The fans bitched about Crouch every week. He was a ball hog, he was a prima donna, he would NEVER pitch the ball, it was all about Crouch, me, me, me, me, me.... that's all you ever heard.

Fast-forward ten years and we're wishing Martinez was more like Crouch.

Time really does heal all wounds.

You did however mention a comparison of Rex to Kenny Bell. That is exactly the point I'm trying to get across. No one would say Kenny is just like Rex without the toughness, just as no one should say Taylor is just like Crouch without the shiftiness. Two completely different players and running styles. Somehow this got misconstrued in the following mess.

That is exactly correct. However with many, presenting something like this is pointless. Even if you do support TM, if you point out the fact that there are deficencies you must be a TM hater and really want Carnes to play. While I admire the level of some's support, their refusal to acknowledge the weaknesses have me no longer posting anything that is not gushing accolades in regards to the QB, might as well go beat your head against the door rather than say anything that might be construed as critcal, regardless of if what you say has merit.

To pretend it's all or even a majority being objective analysis of his assets and liabilities on the field requires a firm and unshakable belief in the tooth-fairy.

I've never seen even one single poster here claim he was a great passer, doesn't make mistakes, doesn't fumble, etc, etc. Not one. "Nobody", despite your BS claim, denies his liabilities.

However, to some posters here and to our HC & OC he is still on balance a serious offensive threat. At the very least the best we have. The truly endlessly repeated harping on those liabilities simply gets old. That's all.

Someone made a very objective comparrison between TM and Crouch, and you jumped in with the Montana/Brady line, which was in no way relevant. I've read ton's of very objective analysis of his game on here, and most of it lately has also given him credit for the way he has played in the last game and a half. Guess what, no one is denying the fact that he is a huge offensive threat, but you can also OBJECTIVELY discuss areas that need worked on. Again, this is why I've tried to stay out of the TM threads lately. You can't have a logical discussion about him anymore.

In all fairness, Crouch had been running a option style offense since he was playing KWAA football. This is only Taylor's 3rd year playing QB. The coaching staff really needs to bring in someone to help get the QB's developed. Frost would have been a huge hire for this staff as a QB coach. Crouch or Frazier would also be a big help to have on staff. I also heard Turner may be looking for a job at the end of the season. I know they have Coach Osborne, but they need someone on the field at every practice. As for skills between Crouch & Martinez they are not close. Taylor is faster in a strait line race but, Crouch is better in every other facet of the game. Crouch would juke you one play & then lower his shoulder on the next & run you over.

I fully agree that a dedicated QB coach would help Taylor out immensely. It's a hire Bo has to make in the offseason.

I think he's "already" taken several leaps forward (did you watch the Fresno St game? Washington game? Ohio State game?) and there's an excellent chance that more will come. You don't see that?

Fortunantly, us dim-witted haters have you to show us the light. You lend a lot of credence to your arguments by belittling those who don't agree with you. You may find this hard to believe, but there are people out there that do know something about the game and enjoy a good discussion about it without resorting to name-calling because they disagree.
